As part of Buhler Versatile’s commitment to developing equipment for tomorrow’s farmer, the company is looking to add additional engineering staff to a new Advanced Engineering Department.
As a Mechanical Engineer on this team, you would play a collaborative role in a mix of projects, at times acting as either project support or project leadership.
You would be responsible for developing and testing solutions to unique challenges presented by Design Engineering, as well as vetting new technologies identified by Marketing.
Key Responsibilities and Duties :
Participate in a collaborative team environment with multidisciplinary team members
Work on a variety of short term and longer term design projects
Provide support to R&D technicians responsible for prototype construction
Develop and manage lab an field tests involving agricultural equipment
Interact with external design teams on a regular basis
Coordinate product design from initial concept through design, prototype build and test
Create documentation for passing on project lessons learned to Design Engineering
Create and manage project timelines
Manage project scope and cost
Job Requirements :
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Minimum five (5) or more years of design experience, preferably in the heavy vehicle or off-road equipment industries
Experience with research projects in an academic or industry environment
Knowledge of 3D CAD systems and software ( Auto desk Inventor, Microsoft Office®, etc.)
Mechanically inclined
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Registered or eligible for registration in a professional engineering association
Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
Capable of managing multiple ongoing projects
Ability to work both independently and as an effective member of a project team.
Must be comfortable working on tractors.
A valid driver’s license and passport
Assets :
Project management experience
Experience with agricultural equipment (farming background) is preferable
Experience with powertrain and power hydraulics is significant asset
Experience with electromechanical systems is an asset
Occasional work periods in electrical shop, R&D
Travel may be required to test sites and other locations across Canada and the U.S.
