Overview :

As part of a growing HR team of two, you will play a key role in managing recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and benefits administration.
You’ll also collaborate on strategic HR initiatives aimed at enhancing workplace culture, while ensuring strong internal and external communication that aligns with company goals and values.
Responsibilities :
Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, strategies, and procedures that align with the company’s vision.
Lead talent attraction, recruitment, and onboarding through creative strategies to effectively hire and integrate top talent, fostering a highly skilled and high-performing workforce.
Participate in the management team and contribute to the company's strategic planning as well as the health and safety committee.
- Draft and update HR-related documents (organizational charts, job descriptions, application forms, performance evaluations, etc.).
- Lead employee engagement initiatives by organizing impactful team-building activities and recognition programs to boost morale, teamwork, and retention.
- Coordinate and promote the workplace wellness program, focused on improving employee quality of life, engagement, and satisfaction.
- Administer and optimize employee benefits programs, providing clear guidance and responding to employee inquiries to ensure efficient use.
- Support performance evaluations (appreciation evaluation) and ensure they are applied rigorously and consistently.
- Coordinate employee training and development programs. Manage skills development, working closely with managers to identify growth needs and performance improvements.
- Develop and manage performance improvement plans (PIPs) to encourage professional growth and accountability.
- Act as the main point of contact for employee relations, promoting a climate of trust and an open, supportive, and inclusive work environment.
- Mediate conflicts upon request supporting and coaching managers in proactively managing and facilitating emerging conflicts.
- Guide and train managers in their communication, feedback, recognition, and employee interactions within their teams.
- Provide advice and support to managers and staff on HR-related matters, such as employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and best HR practices, protecting the organization’s interests while fostering a culture of compliance and fairness.
- Manage the evolution of key HR performance indicators (KPIs). Analyze indicators, set improvement goals, and manage associated HR improvement plans.
- Conduct competitive market studies to establish salary practices that help recruit and retain top talent.
Qualifications :
- CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) certification is required.
- Over 7 years of experience in human resources, preferably with exposure to the construction industry.
- A bachelor’s degree or certificate in Human Resources Management or a related field is an asset.
- Fluency in English and French (bilingualism is strongly recommended).
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with a proactive collaborative, and coaching-focused approach.
- Proven ability to lead and develop HR department team members.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Experience with HRIS systems and knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Team-oriented attitude and a genuine desire to contribute to the company’s growth and success.
- Active affiliation with relevant HR networks and organizations, as well as community involvement to build and grow partnerships with employment organizations, training schools, etc., would be an asset.
