Looking for an opportunity for your skills and abilities to influence the strategic direction of a major software company?
Autodesk's Research Engineering is hiring a Principal Software Developer. Reporting to our Senior Manager of Engineering, you'll develop prototype cloud solutions for strategic research projects, demonstrating innovations for Autodesk products.
You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and domain experts in manufacturing, robotics, architecture, computer vision, machine learning, and generative design.
You'll help us design and implement new systems, maintain and enhance existing systems. You'll also advise others on decisions related to technologies you are familiar with.
As a member of Research Engineering, you'll play an important role shepherding "what-if" ideas into tangible proof of concept demonstrations and prototypes.
You would also identify common technology needs within Autodesk Research and plan solutions to meet them. Autodesk Research is a hotbed of rapidly evolving projects, experimenting with cutting edge technologies, and delivers solutions with real-world benefits for our customers and society.
Research Engineering is a supportive, international team of experienced developers, UX designers and QA specialists.
This position is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with scientists and software engineers in Autodesk Research to develop prototype cloud solutions demonstrating innovation
Work closely with our enterprise solutions team to ensure cloud deployments are aligned with corporate security and trust best practices
Maintain a productive relationship with our platform development team and ensure our prototype cloud solutions leverage Autodesk's platform
Capture and document successful platform integrations and highlight opportunities to improve the platform based on research prototypes
Minimum Qualifications
Experience devising suitable system architectures for full stack cloud solutions
Experience with AWS solutions for cloud solution development and deployment (cloud devops, security, etc.)
Experience working in a research & development context, working on novel solutions
5+ years of experience experience developing commercial software solutions (ideally in computer software or hi-tech industry)
University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related
