JOB DESCRIPTION

The Procurement Specialist (Indirect Materials and Services) is responsible for managing and optimizing the procurement processes for indirect materials and services , across the ALMAG Group.

This role involves analyzing procurement data, developing strategies to improve cost-efficiency, and ensuring the procurement of high-quality services and in-direct materials.

The Procurement Specialist will work closely with cross-functional teams to align procurement activities with business objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

  • Post-Secondary education in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of buying experience, exposure to Metal / Aluminium would be an asset.
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in inventory control and cycle counts.
  • Proven negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and controls.

Technical Skills / Competence

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist are detailed below, but not limited to the following :

  • Manage and control the purchasing of indirect goods and services, through internal and external resources, including VMI activity.
  • Analyze procurement data to identify trends, opportunities for cost savings, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive reports on procurement activities, including spend analysis, supplier performance (scorecards), and contract compliance.
  • Research available incentive and savings programs across all companies, focusing on utilities and SRED programs.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Maintain supplier relationships through regular communication, supplier evaluations, and performance reviews to drive continuous improvement and maintain supplier accountability.
  • Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to streamline procurement workflows and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Manage services required for facilities maintenance such as waste, cardboard, wood and scrap steel removal.
  • Provide support and back up for other department roles, including but not limited to the Materials Procurement Specialist (Direct Materials).
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ensures work area is kept clean, orderly and safe at all times
