This is a highly engaging and rewarding role for a Payroll & Benefits professional looking to join a dedicated team. The successful candidate will provide support to the Human Resources Team at Plaza Premium Group Canada.
Key Areas of Duties and Responsibility
- Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of both semi-monthly and bi-weekly Union and Non-Union payroll for employees based across five Provinces in Canada (ON, BC, QC, MB, AB) using ADP Workforce.
- Ensure accurate calculation of wages, tax withholding and company deductions.
- Managing and administering the ADP payroll system and ensuring that all information related to employee records, payroll, e.
g. time & attendance, leave and overtime records are well recorded and accurate.
- Interpret pay policies (e.g., vacation, overtime, calculations based on deductions, withholding exemptions, etc.)
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and / or key stakeholders.
- Perform audit of payroll data prior to completion using a variety of reports, analysis, and validation of payroll processing results.
- Main liaison with the Finance team for reconciling questions, credits / debits to assist in timely resolution.
- Assist with Provincial legislative and statutory reporting regarding EHT, WSIB, WCB, etc.
- Assess, monitor, and follow-up with all taxable benefit adjustments at year-end.
- Execution of year-end payroll reconciliation and T4 and RL1, T2200’s issuance, respond to employee queries regarding the same.
- Assist with the Stats Canada surveys for all Payroll items.
- Review existing payroll processes and recommend changes with a focus on process improvement and system enhancements / optimization.
- Resolving issues and queries from managers and employees as it relates to payroll & benefits.
- Administer employee group benefits including employee benefit enrolment, salary and benefits, changes update and terminations and guiding employees through the enrollment process for company benefits.
- Prepare ROEs. Process special payroll related calculations such as retroactive payments and time off accruals.
- Responsible for tracking accurate vacation time off.
- Responsible for proving information related to payroll inquiries from Service Canada and CRA.
- Main point of contact for all employees with benefit related questions or concerns
- Liaise directly with the Benefit Providers
- Monitoring and maintaining the Group Benefits system including data management, documentation and compilation of data for analyses.
- Establishing and maintaining departmental records and reports; reconciling month end benefit accounts.
- Special or ad hoc projects, as assigned.
Qualities & Requirements
- 3- 5 years payroll and benefits administration experience
- Multi Provincial payroll processing experience is an asset
- National Payroll Institute (formerly the Canadian Payroll Association) (PCP) certification
- Exposure to web-based payroll systems, ideally ADP WFN
- Understanding of and completion of all year-end financial requirements (T4's adjustment) and regulatory taxation and legislative requirements, including the application of taxable benefits
