24 Internal Rate : E8 - $43,717.59 Application Deadline : November 13, 2024 by 11 : 59 pm Program Overview Childcare & Family Services, (Debbie Yeung and Leslieville Child Care) The ECA Program Staff is responsible for the care of children in group settings by assisting other team members in planning, supervising, and implementing the daily program.

This position is responsible for providing appropriate direction, encouragement and support to the children, their families, staff, students, and volunteers in addition to being flexible, resourceful, sensitive, and respectful of individual needs.

What You Will Do Responsible for the guidance and the care of children in groups and for planning and implementing daily programs that enhance children's social, physical, intellectual, cognitive, and emotional development.

Responsible for setting reasonable limits according to the child's developmental stage and for giving appropriate direction, encouragement, and support individually and in groups, including providing extra stimulation to help delayed children when necessary.

Responsible for recognizing, dealing with, and defining unusual behaviour and, if unable to deal with behaviour successfully, reporting to the Manager and working with various professional and resource persons to alleviate issues.

Responsible for recording the children's daily attendance and receiving medical information, especially in cases of ongoing absenteeism.

Responsible for the children's daily safety, health, and hygienic conditions. Responsible for safely escorting children outside the centre and ensuring adequate supervision on all outings.

Responsible for written daily reports, for completing written assessments and developmental checklists, and for informing parents on an on-going basis about children's progress.

Responsible for the upkeep of equipment and furnishings, informing the Manager when replenishment is necessary, sharing housekeeping responsibilities, and assessing equipment needs and making recommendations regarding purchases.

Responsible for reporting any signs of physical or mental abuse of any children in care to the proper authorities. Responsible for performing housekeeping duties.

What You Bring to the Team Early Childhood Assistant Certificate OR proof of completion of one year of Early Childhood Education program at a recognized Ontario College.

Valid Standard First Aid / CPR-C. Health assessment, including up-to-date immunization records and TB test required. What Will Set You Apart Demonstrated ability to direct, instruct and care for children.

Ability to handle emergencies, crises, and hostile behaviour. Ability to maintain control in frustrating situations. Ability to work cooperatively with others and provide work direction as required.

Ability to use professional judgement daily within guidelines established by the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014, the City of Toronto’s Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) and program policies.

Consult / report non-routine situations to the manager or other staff. Ability to accommodate competing demands. Ability to maintain neat and accurate records and prepare reports.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all children, parents, and staff information.

Ability to carry / lift children and carry / lift / move moderately heavy items. Ability to stand for extended periods; to work at the height of children.

Willingness to work in conditions involving exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, frequent high noise levels, and occasional inclement weather.
