Hart House is a centre for experiential education outside the classroom at the University of Toronto. Since opening in 1919, Hart House functions as a place where students, faculty, staff, alumni and members of the broader community connect with each other and the world.
Through an array of co-curricular programming in the arts, dialogue and wellness, Hart House works with local and international partners to foster community and to create innovative learning opportunities for students.
Hart House operates from a historic facility on the St. George campus, as well as a 150-acre farm in Caledon, Ontario, offering a wide range of services through a social enterprise model that generates revenue to support its student-focused programming on all three University of Toronto campuses.

Nestled in the heart of the U of T campus, the Hart House Fitness Centre is a community-centered boutique fitness space that brings together U of T students, staff, faculty, and the greater community.
This fitness and wellness space is uniquely part of the larger cultural, learning and wellness Centre that is Hart House.

Your opportunity :
Under the general direction of the Marketing, Sales and Membership Engagement Officer, the Membership Sales & Customer Engagement Associate is responsible for driving membership and program sales at the Hart House Fitness Centre.
This includes implementing sales and marketing plans to increase revenue-generating activities, providing guided tours of the facility, educating members about program offerings and creating sales opportunities through effective, ongoing engagement with the various communities we serve.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Implementing sales and marketing plans to increase revenue-generating activities
- Analyzing sales packages offered to clients and recommending changes to increase business
- Tracking and monitoring enrollments and informing management of enrollment numbers
- Liaising with contacts to offer services that would increase revenue
- Training and coaching casual staff
- Providing guided tours of facilities
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Handling fees and / or fines on a regular basis
Essential Qualifications :
- Bachelor's Degree in the area of Sales & Marketing, recreation or physical activity promotion, or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum two years related experience with front-desk services and sales in an athletic facility, including working with the public in a high volume, fast-paced environment, processing registrations and producing reports and related experience in fitness, health or recreation promotion and evaluation.
- Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain and disseminate up-to-date knowledge of changing events, programs, and procedures.
- Some knowledge and understanding of project and event management workflows, and qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods.
- Understanding of Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity and accessibility issues.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in all work responsibilities and in collaborative workplace practices.
- Strong sales orientation.
- Exceptional decision-making and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to handle difficult situations with tact, diplomacy and discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,and Publisher) and Adobe Acrobat is required.
- Knowledge of Fusion or another similar software required.
- Standard First Aid and CPR C certification required.
Assets (Nonessential) :
- Education and experience with social media strategies, student leadership development and equity and inclusion focused work.
- Strong knowledge of Hart House and the University of Toronto's programs and procedures.
- Project Management software skills, such as Asana

USW Pay Band 09 $65,407 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $83,646. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation / Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
