Job Description
This role is pivotal in supporting our MLSE’s business units and collaborating with business leaders to drive capital projects across the organization.
The primary focus will be managing building renovation projects within our venues, along with other projects, ensuring compliance with Ontario’s building codes and required permitting.
You will be directly responsible for managing MLSE’s core capital projects, as directed by the Director, Venue Planning & Capital Programs and in conjunction with the different project sponsors across all venues operated by MLSE.
You will deliver on time and within budget supporting business units in their project needs. This role demands mastery of project management within a dynamic, year-round environment and a deep understanding of stakeholder relationships.
- Lead diverse projects, ranging in scope from ad-hoc initiatives to large-scale base-building renovations within MLSE’s venues from initiation through to closeout.
- Act as a key player in understanding and addressing the challenges and goals of our business partners, ensuring projects comply with all relevant building codes and permitting requirements and coordinating receipt of licensing as required.
This includes any league-related requirements on a case-by-case basis.
- Work effectively together with internal teams and external partners to deliver innovative solutions that meet deadlines and budget constraints, while effectively communicating with collaborators and customers to meet their expectations.
- Structure and present updates, documentation, and strategic recommendations to leadership and collaborators while tracing risk and mitigative response.
- Coordinate compliance of vendors, contractors, and sub-contractors in all projects completed on behalf of MLSE, including managing vendor access to sites.
- Support the development and evaluation of strategic arguments, particularly those involving significant structural changes and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Coordinate the permit application process and ensure that all renovations and constructions adhere to the latest Provincial Building Code requirements.
- Oversee and maintain the closeout process, inclusive but not limited to contracts, close-out materials, permits and support financial reconciliation process

- A positive, team-oriented attitude with a people-focused demeanor.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Finance, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Preferably 3-5 years of experience in Project Management Consulting, Digital, Technology, or Strategic Planning. Knowledge in Corporate development related to venue management is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of Ontario’s permitting processes and building codes, with a strong ability to navigate regulatory environments.
- Robust project management skills, capable of leading complex projects in a dynamic environment with fluid structures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially PowerPoint, and other project tools for effective project presentation and communication.
- Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen ability to present independent, clear, and actionable recommendations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships with collaborators at all levels.
- Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with senior executives and board members.
- A proactive approach that emphasizes finding practical solutions and the capacity to make independent, confident decisions.
