What this role is all about :

Beem Credit Union is looking for a User Experience (UX) Designer to join our Innovation team. Reporting to the VP, of Innovation, the User Experience (UX) Designer is challenged with developing first-class user experiences and interactions to change our organization and advance our industry.

You will lead the design of omnichannel experiences, products and services and produce deliverables that bring clarity to how we engage with our members now and in the future.

With a constant focus on creating meaningful experiences for customers, the Experience Designer combines deep experience in UX, design and brand while considering how business models and processes are impacted

What you’ll do : Design & Research

Design & Research

• Leverage a range of generative and evaluative research methodologies (including user testing, in depth interviews, focus groups and secondary review) to inform designs.
• Produce compelling visual designs to illustrate concepts iteratively and provide detailed specifications for use by UI and front-end developers of all levels.
• Uses, maintains, and evolves a Design system and portrays a strong point of view for Design, expressing WHY and HOW it contributes to business growth.
• Develop and execute usability strategies and plans to enhance user experience across various digital platforms.
• Consider the range of customer segments and design intelligent systems that meet the needs of various personas.

Collaborative Facilitation

• Plan and facilitate workshops and concept sprints to iterate and critique design concepts.
• Work with the strategy, product, technical team and a range of stakeholders to prioritize issues, tasks and projects.
• Synthesize research outcomes into viable product experiences.

Technical Subject Matter Expert

• Act as Subject Matter Expert within the organization for emerging technology and best practices in user journey mapping.
• Act as a role model and develop a level of engagement within the Innovation team and organization as a trusted advisor.
• Translate insights into ideas that will continuously improve Beem’s products, both disruptive new products / features and detailed modifications of the existing product.
• Proactively ensure a continual understanding of Beem’s members, leveraging rigorous design research and usability principles as well as intuitive design sense.
• Influence the design aesthetic of experiences that touch thousands of users every day.
• Leverage a high level of technical acuity with a thorough understanding of front-end technologies as well as limitations and constraints and understand when to push boundaries.
• Support innovative product and service development assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ensure project budgets are maximized and adhered to through project lifecycles.

A little about your qualifications :

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in design, business, innovation, technology, or a related field.
• years of demonstrated experience in creating and implementing UX design, preferably in the FinTech space or financial services space
• Proficient with visual design programs such as Figma
• Solid experience and significant knowledge of design thinking and agile development principles and methodologies
• A demonstrable portfolio of work (professional and personal) that showcases the applications you’ve worked on and includes examples of your storytelling skills, from low-fidelity sketches to detailed designs
• Experience in creating storyboards and developing user personas
• Demonstrated progressive expertise in working collaboratively across business functions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Proven leadership abilities and self-starter in a progressive company
• Proven problem-solving skills in a progressive company
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be appropriate
