Reporting to the Project Manager, the Purchaser will purchase goods, materials and services to ensure that the company operational needs are met, taking into account price, quality and delivery and to ensure continuity of supply.

The job holder will take responsibility for a specific project or hold a larger role in terms of purchasing responsibility, will have more technical knowledge, expertise, understanding and will be seen as a specialist within their function.

This is a permanent position based on an Industrial Site in Ft. Saskatchewan (30min north of Edmonton).

What You Will Be Working On

General and Task Management

Manage the buying process for a given set of goods or projects in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.

Source, Order, Track, and assist with receiving of goods at site location

Provide technical / commercial assistance to Team Members to identify product options and improve product knowledge.

Work in both company and client software to update order status

Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.

Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers.

Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.

Negotiate prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods

Ensure that a professional and consistent approach is taken in relation to all supplier and client relationships.

Ensure compliance to company guidelines, purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts award process.

Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery or invoice issues.

Stay current and up to date on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of needed products and materials and advise others of any impact.

A developed and strong foundation of function skills and knowledge of relevant purchasing and sourcing concepts.

What We Are Looking For

Electrical and Controls knowledge or Refrigeration (HVAC) trade knowledge strongly preferred

Journeyman tradesman with 5+ years of experience , or

SCMP designation or registered in the SCMP program would be an asset, or

5 + years experience working for a major electrical or mechanical / HVAC company
