The Intermediate Electronics Technician is a junior-level role focused on supporting the assembly, testing, and calibration of electronic systems and equipment.
Working under the guidance of more experienced technicians or engineers, this position involves various tasks related to established systems and new projects of moderate complexity.
The role requires interpreting instructions, performing tests, and maintaining data records. Familiarity with electrical schematics, electronic components, and testing procedures is essential.
Responsibilities :
- Assembly & Prototyping : Assemble and modify breadboards and models following detailed instructions or under the technical supervision of experienced staff.
- Schematic & Diagram Work : Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and other drawings to create accurate assembly and wiring documentation, using manual and automated tools.
- Testing & Calibration :
- Conduct tests, alignment, and calibration on production units and intermediate-level systems.
- Record and analyze test results, and prepare reports with potential recommendations.
- Perform unit monitoring and testing in thermal or vacuum chambers.
Electronics Support (RF, Digital, Power, Payload) :
- Program PROMs and FPGAs.
- Conduct thermal and vacuum tests, bench tests using vector analyzers, and basic RF unit testing (interference, noise figure, RF gain, amplifier compression).
- Perform digital testing with generators and circuit analyzers.
- Assemble transformers and inductors as required.
- Calibration Support : Perform calibration, modifications, and precision measurements on moderately complex equipment. Assist in developing calibration checklists for new equipment and recommend standards.
- Vibration Testing : Set up and perform vibration tests, including maintenance and calibration of vibration testing facilities.
- Maintenance & Facilities Support : Conduct maintenance and calibration of test facilities, and perform equipment calibrations.
- Thermal Testing : Independently prepare and monitor thermal and vacuum thermal tests, including maintenance of thermal testing chambers.
- Safety & Compliance : Follow all internal procedures and comply with occupational health and safety regulations.
Qualifications :
- College diploma or equivalent in mechanical, electromechanical, electrotechnical, or electronic engineering, or a related technical field.
- 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in spoken and written French; knowledge of English is an asset.
