The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) is looking to hire an experienced Human Resources professional to lead our Employee Wellness & Disability Management team.
As a pivotal member of the OCSB Human Resources team, you will contribute to the HR team’s priorities with your knowledge and decision-making skills, and your deep understanding of disability management, wellness and absence management.
You will be responsible for developing, managing and leading a proactive and strategic disability case management approach for all occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries.
You will also be accountable for the monitoring and reporting of all associated programs (such as STD, LTD, WSIB, EFAP, return to work plans / processes and workplace accommodations).
This role will report to the Manager of Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide leadership, coaching and development to the team of Wellness Officers
Manage the Board’s sick leave, short / long-term disability management, WSIB, EFAP, wellness and return to work programs
Develop and oversee the Board’s absence management program
Manage the Board’s WSIB program
Manage the relationship with the Board’s EFAP provider
Conduct analysis and interpretation of reports to monitor programs, including sick leave, STD, LTD, WSIB, return to work, workplace accommodations, etc.
Develop related policies and procedures in compliance with legislation and collective agreements, where applicable
Collaborate with all stakeholders in support of Wellness and Disability Management objectives, including employees, Board leadership, union representatives and external support partners
Qualifications and Skills Required :
University degree together with a Human Resources professional designation or equivalent
Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience with disability management, attendance support and wellness programs within a unionized environment, with knowledge of claims adjudication, early intervention and modified work processes
Solid experience in a leadership role and mentoring staff
Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), Employment Standards Act (ESA), Workplace Safety Insurance Act (WSIA), Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and other legislation as they relate to disability management and related areas
A results-oriented approach to getting work done with constant deadlines
Demonstrated ability to provide sound advice, influence others and build effective relationships
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to propose integrated solutions to complex issues
Excellent communication and organizational skills
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
This is a full-time, permanent position with an annual salary range of $95,214 - $120,948. A comprehensive employee benefits and pension package is also provided.
The anticipated start date of this position will be as soon as possible.
