A Snapshot of Your Day
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful conclusion of the project by providing leadership, strategically managing risk, monitoring finances, and making sure that each phase of the project starts and ends on schedule.
For a proper decision making, it regularly pushes for regular updates from the Commercial Project Manager(s), so they can make needed adjustments to align with the broader outcome goals.
Also develops and tests various tactics that can help the projects they manage, from training to delivery mechanisms, negotiation, and public and private sector engagement.
It’s part of their job to be innovative and integrate those solutions to better project outcomes.
Also includes roles responsible for technical project / program management which the incumbent has some foundational knowledge in the specific area or product(s) to advise on scope changes, Quality Assurance and other more technical aspects of the project.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Tasks included, but not limited to :
- Organizing project teams, assigning individual responsibilities, developing project schedules, and determining resource requirements.
- Monitoring and reporting on the status of projects including cost, timing, and staffing.
- Update / maintain project schedules and associated resource plans and prepares progress reports.
- Ensuring adherence to internal and external quality standards (, International Standards Organization).
- Identifying / resolving obstacles to completing project on time and to budget. Make alternative plans if initial project planning is inadequate.
- May include work managing multiple, interrelated projects (including business transformation projects).
- On some projects, the work may include integrating vendor tasks into the project plan and tracking and reviewing vendor deliverables.
- Recommend changes to keep projects on track.
- Present to customers, business partners and company executives.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred), Business, or related
- 5 or more years of relevant project management experience
- Industry knowledge / experience with utilities and power-related products
- Travel approximately once a month, as required for projects, both within Canada and internationally
- Excellent / strong skills in : networking, collaboration, organization, customer focus, communication, negotiation, strategic views
- PMP or project-related certification a plus
- Multilingual a plus
