The opportunity
The Senior Manager, Digital Fundraising and Planning is responsible for developing and executing digital direct marketing strategies and creative to acquire and onboard donors into the annual giving (one-time donations) portfolio.
Using sophisticated analytics this role will oversee and develop best-in-class digital direct marketing campaigns that improve life-time value and strong 2nd gift rates.
The role will deliver donors that result in strong first time and repeat giving. Digital fundraising strategies include overseeing the email channel for Direct Marketing with a strong focus on marketing automation within the Salesforce Marketing Cloud framework.
This role also supports the annual and quarterly planning across the Direct Marketing team, bringing colleagues together to ensure collaboration and strategic integration of the marketing plans.
How you will make an impact every day
Business Strategy and Planning
Lead the strategy development and team responsible for the online donor journeys for one-time donor acquisition and onboarding campaigns.
Lead the annual and quarterly planning process, including revenue targets, expense tracking, content requirements and fundraising messaging to support Direct Marketing.
Work in collaboration with the Email Marketing team on fundraising strategies for the Direct Marketing email channel including testing and analytics.
Work with Email Marketing team and IT on email infrastructure roadmap and vision.
Campaign Planning and Execution
Oversee and manage the development and planning of all portfolio initiatives, including critical path, budgets, production and stakeholder involvement / approvals.
Work closely with Integrated Marketing team to plan and execute Acquisition and lead generation pipeline campaigns.
Provide regular and timely updates to leadership on all key timelines, challenges, critical paths and outcomes
Lead briefing with agencies to develop marketing communications and supporting programs to deliver on campaign objectives
Ensure key business processes follow secure first-month fulfillment, issue receipts and successfully transition the donor beyond their onboarding journey.
Modify campaign plans, as necessary, based on real time results, market conditions and new learnings
Operations, Analytics and Budget Management
Manage the detailed monthly review of expense tracking
Work with the analytics team to evaluate and measure the results of all campaigns.
Comply with all policies and practices at HSF, including compliance with Code of Professional Conduct.
Talent Management
Lead talent development, ensuring high standards, competence and that staff is well supported in fulfilling their accountabilities, developing their skills and achieving their career potential.
Providing clear direction on business goals and priorities; ensure optimal deployment of resources to achieve business goals.
Build and develop cohesive lateral relationships cross functionally.
Establish performance plan and objectives and review on an ongoing basis; provide coaching and feedback as per the performance management process
As required, recruit skilled talent in support of current and future Foundation needs, following Foundation policies, interviewing methodology and assessment guidelines.
Familiarize and comply with all HSF policies while ensuring accurate administration of employee related information : absence records, vacation, title, etc.
Who we need
Experience
Minimum of 7 years of fundraising or marketing experience and strategic planning
Minimum of 3 years of Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar platform
1-3 years of people management experience
Online acquisition experience
Deep understanding of and experience with database marketing, marketing automation and customer relationship management
Budget management experience
Experience managing multiple external agency and creative partners
Experience within a fast-paced environment involving multi-tasking and critical deadlines.
Web site and Ecommerce project management experience a plus
Email tracking
Education
University Degree in related area
Skills
Requires strong understanding of motivations / needs of donor groups
Apply data segmentation to execute a strong program of customized messages
Requires ability to see the big picture and contribute to long-term strategic decision
Requires working with multiple stakeholders while working through multiple complexities
Ability to balance competing priorities, complex situations and tight deadlines
Strong degree of comfort with ambiguity but able to translate into tactical programs
Experience and understanding of email list hygiene, CASL, GDPR, CAN-SPAM
Data driven thinker with ability to identify and respond to issues and opportunities in a timely manner
Demonstrated ability to construct donor journeys across multiple touch points and channels using salesforce marketing cloud
Production experience including understanding of variable print
Strong project management skills, attention to detail and ability to handle multiple and competing demands on a consistent basis
Proven success meeting and exceeding revenue targets
Strong interpersonal skills and a strong collaborator
Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communications skills
Self-initiative is a must
Flexibility and a very strong sense of urgency
