MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Senior Contract Administrator on behalf of one of our clients, a leading architectural firm in Calgary known for its commitment to design excellence and innovative project delivery.

Position Overview :

The Senior Contract Administrator will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality projects by managing the construction administration process and contributing to the development of contract documents.

They will follow the project architect’s strategy and scope of work, ensuring design and technical standards are upheld throughout construction within the collaborative framework of the practice.

The role involves keeping the Principal in Charge and Project Architect informed of all construction-related matters.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Take ownership of projects during construction administration, ensuring successful outcomes by providing value on-site and practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Direct and supervise project reports and documents, including Building Permit Forms, ABC (NBC (AE) Schedules, PCNs, COs, etc.
  • Provide oversight for administrative CA support, including logging shop drawings and RFIs.
  • Support and coordinate IDM, schedule design reviews, and QA / QC reviews.
  • Liaise with clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and AHJ agencies to ensure effective communication.
  • Monitor project scope and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate consultant activities during construction administration.
  • Review and manage contract documents, shop drawings, samples, and submittals to ensure timely processing and coordination.
  • Conduct site visits, prepare site review reports, and maintain favourable working relations with client and contractor representatives.
  • Assemble and verify change order information, review contractor payment requests, and ensure accurate contract administration.

Characteristics & Skills :

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in a similar role.
  • Proven leader, coach, and mentor with exceptional communication skills and a thorough understanding of construction methods.
  • Strong project management skills, including scope, budget, and schedule management.
  • High level of creativity, innovative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, building systems, and codes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and maintain high standards in architectural projects.
