We are looking for a Finance & Accounting Manager to join us and become an important member of our Finance team! This role is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a start-up environment.

Your days will be fast-paced and filled with ever-evolving challenges (and pooches)!

What your day-to-day will look like :

General Accounting

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting function, including transactions related to receivables, payables, payroll, sales, inventory, etc.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package
  • Manage and oversee all financial reporting processes, including keeping all accounting schedules and working papers up-to-date
  • Manage audit, compliance, and covenant reporting processes
  • Ensure all required tax filings are completed by required deadlines
  • Oversee employee expense management
  • Support, coach, and directly manage an Accounting Specialist and AP Specialist / Bookkeeper, and guide them through key accounting procedures such as vendor management, expenses, analysis, and other key tasks,

Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Spearhead management reporting for corporate business units, including monthly variance analysis to budget
  • Continuously improve FP&A's financial modeling techniques and tools
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget

What You Bring :

  • 2-3 years experience in mid-large accounting firm; Big 4 Accounting Firm an asset
  • further experience at a private company an asset
  • university degree in Business, Commerce, Accounting or Finance related discipline.
  • CPA designation or in progress with strong knowledge of ASPE standards
  • financial Modelling experience
  • Strong attention-to-detail
  • relied upon to provide thorough, well-reasoned and accurate results
  • proficient in Excel; experience with QuickBooks or Unleashed an asset
  • strong interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills
  • demonstrated people management experience preferred in a small team environment
  • strong analytical skills with the ability to think outside the box
  • highly motivated and proactive
  • flexible with an ability to adapt to a complex and ever-changing environment
  • results oriented - able to effectively manage various projects and consistently deliver on time with high degree of accuracy
