Job Description
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Taxation in Toronto, the Director of Tax will provide Canadian international tax support.

Responsibilities :
The responsibilities for this position include the following :
Analyze and model the Canadian tax implications of foreign affiliate transactions, including :
- Draft and review steps plans;
- Analyze foreign affiliate financial statements to assess the Canadian tax implications of proposed transactions;
Review legal agreements; and
Communicate Canadian tax considerations to stakeholders globally.
Coordinate internal and external teams of professionals to ensure timely and accurate implementation of transactions.
Work with accounting and compliance teams to ensure transactions are accurately documented and reported.
Draft funds flow memos setting out the appropriate characterization of cash movements for day-to-day cash movements and larger transactions.
Collaborate with professionals throughout the organization to ensure all internal mandated legal entity protocols are complied with.
Stay current with changing tax laws that may impact the relevant transactions and structures.
Assist with international tax compliance and reporting, including surplus & ACB computations, excluded property analysis, tax provisions and T1134 forms review.
Communicate with government and financial statement auditors and respond to audit requests.
Requirements :
To qualify, the following minimum requirements should be met :
7-10 years of progressive Canadian tax experience with more than 5 years of outbound international tax specialization in a Big 4 public accounting firm, law firm and / or a large multinational Canadian company.
Experience managing large and complex transactions.
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to describe complex tax concepts to various non-tax audiences in a clear and concise manner.
Self-motivated and proactive with respect to managing workload and professional development.
Skilled in the use of excel for modelling.
