Senior Director, Global Transaction Tax (Indirect Tax)

A&M's Global Transaction Tax team is composed of seasoned tax professionals experienced in providing practical tax advice to corporate and private equity clients throughout the transaction life cycle.
Alongside A&M professionals with deep operating and financial-related experience, the team uses an integrated, focused, and tailored approach to rapidly identify and understand potential deal breakers, value drivers, and other areas of specific interest to our clients.
Our professionals have significant experience on both buy side and sell side transactions across all industries, including education, energy, environmental services, financial institutions, healthcare, and software and technology.
What will you be doing?
As a member of the A&M Global Transaction Tax team, you will :
- Lead and oversee all aspects of indirect tax, with a focus on transaction structuring, tax due diligence, and fund structuring;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and assess the indirect tax implications of business transactions and initiatives;
- Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize our clients' financial objectives while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations;
- Conduct thorough tax due diligence reviews to identify potential indirect tax risks and opportunities, providing actionable recommendations to mitigate tax exposure;
- Advise on the structuring and restructuring of investment funds, considering indirect tax implications and regulatory requirements;
- Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation and industry trends, proactively adapting strategies and processes to reflect evolving standards and best practices;
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and training to internal teams on indirect tax matters;
- Take a leading role in client communications regarding indirect tax matters, including verbal updates regarding issues identified and recommended next steps.

Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance, preferred;
- Advanced Degree / Certification required : CPA, MST, MAcc, JD and / or LLM;
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in an indirect tax practice at a Big 4 firm, Big Law firm, or similar firm, and experience working on tax due diligence engagements.
- Thorough knowledge of, and experience with Canadian indirect tax issues, with the capability to perform research and effectively apply that knowledge and experience to client situations;
- Strong writing, analytical, research, and organizational skills;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills;
- Strong sense of personal motivation as well as the ability to work with a team;
- Ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive, and sometimes stressful environment;
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and implement changes to continually improve performance of self and those that report to you;
