Our client one ofCanada’s leading international law firms is currentlyrecruiting for an experienced Accounting Manager to join theirFinance Department.
Reporting to the Director of Administrationthis role requires a candidate who will provide professionalefficient and prompt service to both lawyers andclients.
Responsibilities :
- Supervise a team of 5 accountingstaff responsible for tasks such as monthly invoicing accountspayable cash deposits and addressing internal auditinquiries.
- Accuratelymanage and record all trust funds held by the firm ensuringcompliance with the Law Society of BC’sregulations.
- Createand oversee the annual operating and capital budgets for theVancouver office including financial ysis and variancereporting.
- Handledaily banking interactions including local and international wiretransfers and resolve any banking issues.
- Provide strategic financial advice to theOffice Managing Partner and seniormanagement.
- Respondto all financial inquiries from clients lawyers andstaff.
- Producevarious financial reports and statistical information as requestedby lawyers (e.g. aged accounts receivable time tracking work inprogress etc.).
- Prepare journal entries and complete monthlybank reconciliations.
- Compile annual reports for CDIC and Trust andprovide annual statistics for economicsurveys.
- Engage inboth internal and external audits.
- Collaborate with other offices on nationalinitiatives.
- Regularly liaise with the national FinanceDepartment.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree inCommerce or Business Administration with a focus on Accounting orcurrently pursuing an accounting degree.
- At least 68 years of relevant accountingexperience preferably within a professional servicesenvironment.
- Expertise in trust accounting and familiaritywith the Law Society of BC regulations is highlydesirable.
- Strongleadership communication ytical and problemsolvingss.
- Ability to makeinformed decisions using accountingprinciples.
- Proficient in computer ss particularly withExcel CMS accounting software and Aderant budgetingsoftware.
- Excellentinterpersonal ss and the ability to work effectively within ateam.
- Detailorientedwith exceptional organizational ss and the ability to managemultiple priorities.
