Engineering ManagerTrois-Rivières, QCSchedule : M-F, Professional Working Day IntroductionReporting to the Capital Project Manager, the Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the engineering and design activities for the Project, a $30M USD initiative to upgrade the electrode area and accommodate larger anode sizes for increased aluminum production capacity. This role involves ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements, managing engineering service providers (ESPs), and delivering high-quality engineering outputs aligned with project objectives.ResponsibilitiesHealth, Safety, and QualityLead HSE efforts to ensure a Zero harm approach during all phases of the project, including engineering activities.Identify safety hazards and implement mitigation measures.Evaluate environmental impacts of designs and construction activities.Ensure compliance with HSE regulations, codes, and standards.Establish and enforce engineering Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA / QC) practices.Engineering ManagementOversee the definition of the project scope and deliverables, ensuring concept-to-completion engineering outputs, including : Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, schematics, and specifications.Engineering drawings for construction phases (IFR / IFB / IFC).Manage engineering deliverables through third-party ESPs to meet quality, schedule, and budget requirements.Conduct design reviews, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.Ensure constructability of designs in collaboration with construction teams and procurement strategies.Optimize designs by eliminating unnecessary scope items and maximizing standardization and reusability.Project CoordinationCollaborate with stakeholders, asset owners, and team members to ensure alignment of engineering activities with project objectives.Monitor engineering contracts and ESP performance, minimizing variations and maximizing value.Proactively manage project risks, changes, and challenges, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.Prepare and present project updates and reports to stakeholders.Electrode Area UpgradeLead engineering efforts to upgrade processes and equipment in the electrode area for larger anode sizes.Ensure designs and upgrades align with production goals, environmental standards, and cost-efficiency.RequirementsEducation and CertificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).Registered Engineering Professional (e.g., P.Eng.) is preferred.Experience10+ years of experience in engineering management, preferably in capital projects or industrial environments.Experience with aluminum production, including electrode area processes and equipment.Skills and CompetenciesBilingual French / English requiredStrong knowledge of federal and provincial HSE regulations and engineering standards.Proven leadership in delivering complex engineering projects from concept to completion.Expertise in QA / QC practices and constructability principles.Effective stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and communication skills.Proficiency in project management tools, risk management, and reporting.Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and team leadership abilities.What We OfferWhy work with Brunel?
