Alberta Electric System OperatorCalgaryDescription
We are seeking a talented CIP Compliance Auditor, where you will focus on adding value to the Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) compliance monitoring team in the efficient and effective execution of compliance monitoring activities. In this position, you will require solid technical knowledge and expertise in cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards related to the electrical industry. In addition, you will have a solid understanding of regulatory and audit practices, and an in-depth familiarity with all Alberta Reliability Standards.
Reporting to the Manager, Compliance Reliability Standards Monitoring, you will lead and support market participants’ compliance activities and act as a technical and compliance monitoring resource to all internal and external stakeholders.

Accountabilities include but are not limited to :
Plans, organizes, conducts and / or leads reliability standards compliance activities in accordance with the CMP and the organizational policies and procedures.
Completes audits and other monitoring activities on schedule, by delivering defensible results that meet established quality expectations.
Prepares written audit reports of findings.
Leads and actively participates in the development or update of processes and procedures of the Compliance Monitoring Program (CMP), and any implementation changes.
Follows the NERC / WECC standard development to identify, report and propose solutions on changes related to the compliance strategy / principles / processes / deadlines.
Provides audit practice acumen to internal and external stakeholders during the development of various programs within the CMP.
Participates in the ARS development process to develop an in-depth understanding of the implementation of the standards and assess whether the existing compliance tools and processes are effective in evaluating industry’s compliance with the standard; influences the development of standards content, industry implementation methodologies, and compliance monitoring approach.
Leads and actively participates in the Reliability Standard Audit Worksheet (RSAW) development
Supports the engagement with the Standard Owners (SO) and Subject Matter Experts (SME) in the review or development of the RSAW.
Performs applicability assessments, review and assessments of evidence.
Acts as a subject matter technical resource in addressing any questions / clarifications and providing internal (management team, SOs, SMEs, etc.) and external stakeholders (market participants, MSA, etc.) information regarding compliance assessments.
What you’ll bring to us :
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college or university.
Professional Engineer Accreditation (P.Eng.).
Cybersecurity and / or Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related accreditations would be an asset.
Minimum of 5-8 years power systems engineering.
Previous working experience in a role that required adherence to a legislative or statutory accountability.
Strong knowledge and experience of the Alberta electricity industry.
Internal audit and / or regulatory experience preferred.
