Position DescriptionPosition SummaryTo regularly lead the program of the camp as a whole in accordance with all health and safety practices.
ResponsibilitiesProgram Planning and Development Collaborate with the Assistant Program Coordinator, AV Coordinator, Crafts Coordinator, and Program Assistant to identify and prioritize programmatic goals and objectives for the duration of the summerPlan the summer camp themes for pre-camp training week, main sessions, youth week, and awards camp.
Design and develop new programs and ministries that meet the spiritual, educational, and practical needs of staff and campers for main sessions, youth week, and awards camp.
Brainstorm and implement daily evening games based on weekly themes.Conduct research to identify relevant resources, speakers, and materials to enhance program and ministry offerings throughout the summer.
Conduct all shopping requirements to gather all of the necessary resources to implement the programs that have been planned for pre-camp training week, main sessions, youth week, awards camp, SGTs and Town Halls.
Oversee and manage the program budget to ensure that each activity is utilizing what has been allocated to it.Oversee and schedule activity times / time off schedule to mobilize staff and ensure that the camper to staff ratio policy is being maintained.
Program Implementation Coordinate all aspects of program implementation, including scheduling, logistics, and material and human resource allocation.
Facilitate effective communication among program team, camp staff, and camp participants, ensuring clarity of objectives, expectations, and guidelines.
Create and administer all camper and staff awards.Emergency support staff for hospital runs, behaviour and driving campers home early.
Support staff to cover staff breaks, ratios on the hill and night rounds Ministry Coordination Assemble ministry teams and provide schedules and objectives for training during pre-camp Ministry week.
Create lesson plans that connect with the overall camp theme.Provide leadership in the worship and bible lesson ministry teams during the summer by facilitating discussions and devotionals related to worship and teaching.
Prepare and deliver engaging and age-appropriate bible lessons and devotions for campers.Incorporate storytelling, interactive activities, and discussion prompts to help campers understand and apply biblical truths.
Create, schedule, and lead bible studies for daily staff devotional.Create and organize weekly schedules for worship and bible lesson teams.
Plan and lead worship sessions, including song selections and arrangements.Conduct ongoing rehearsals with worship team musicians and vocalist to ensure well prepared worship sessionsCommunicate with guest speakers or worship teams who may be involved in participating in camp worship sessions.
Connect with Gideons for weekly visits and bible deliveryPurchase instruments and sound equipment as neededCoordinate management of the sound system, musical instruments, and audiovisual equipment during worship sessions as well as set up and tear down.
Evaluation and Reporting Implement assessment tools to evaluate program team members and activity leaders.Conduct performance evaluations for bible lesson and worship team members.
Regularly report on program accomplishments, challenges, and identify areas of improvement.Use evaluation findings to make recommendations to the leadership team to enhance program impact.
Spiritual Leadership and People Management Maintain a personal commitment to Christian values and principles, serving as a role model to program participants and volunteers.
Provide spiritual guidance and pastoral care to staff and children participating within the program.Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages personal growth, discipleship, and relationship-building.
Required Experience and Education A deep personal commitment to Christian faith and values.Bachelor’s degree in theology, education, psychology, social work (preferred).
Prior experience in program coordination, ministry leadership, or related roles.Ability to unite, lead, and mobilize a team towards common objectives.
Strong ability to manage different personalities within a team.Creativity and problem-solving abilities.Organizational and time / project management skills.
Strong financial education and budgeting skills.Excellent interpersonal skills.Strong verbal and written communication.Ability to work effectively with diverse people groups.
