MacEwan University is seeking an Accounting Tech II for a full-time 15-month replacement term opportunity with the Financial Services, Accounts Receivable Trade and Billing department.
The Accounting Technician II is accountable for contributing to the success of the University mission of providing lifelong learning opportunities to the community it serves. The duties of this position include all aspects of the Accounts Receivable function and the reconciliation of GL accounts to the sub-ledger and the sub-systems. The incumbent verifies, analyses and records accounting transactions using automated financial systems and investigates and follows-up on discrepancies or other accounting and administrative matters as required.
Key responsibilities include :
- Following and explaining University Accounts Receivable and Billing policies and procedures to students, departments, and customers. Demonstrating a strong commitment to meeting the needs of MacEwan clients in a professional manner.
- Following up and collecting outstanding accounts and adjusting entries as required. Making and documenting calls on customer accounts.
- Ensuring that all accounting documents conform with university standards regarding required authorizations, accuracy of calculations, completeness of supporting documentation.
- Handling receipt of monies that come into the university and depositing funds received by university as required.
- Maintaining records on miscellaneous payments coming into the university.
- Running daily sales reports and reconciling daily activity revenue generating ancillary operations as directed (Parking, Box Office, Roundhouse, Conservatory of Music, etc.).
- Providing information and handling inquiries in person, in writing, and via phone for corporate customers, students and employees.
- Notifying supervisor of any anomaly, situation, or problem and, as necessary, proposing changes or improvements to the workflow within the unit.

At least two (2) years' experience within a mid-size accounting environment, preferably in Accounts Receivable.Considerable experience with cash transactions, bank deposits, reconciliation of accounts.Experience and thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel) in a Windows operating system is essential.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Benefits
