Mill Loader Operator
Reporting to the Mill Operations Supervisor, the Mill Loader Operator will efficiently perform all required duties within the scope of work while maintaining a safe and collaborative work environment. The Loader Operator is an integral part of the McEwen Mining Mill Operations team and as such serves a key role in aiding production in reaching all milestones. They must be committed team players with a strong knowledge of and dedication to safety, production methods and equipment care. Other duties will be assigned as per operational needs.
The list of duties and responsibilities below is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative, and flexible in line with the requirements of the position.
Operational / Technical Execution :
- Ensure adherence to all pre-operational checks and procedural requirements to safely startup, efficiently operate, and safely shutdown all process equipment.
- Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way adhering in accordance with all relevant legislation, Company policies and Standard Operating Procedures
- Operate machinery, tools, and equipment as required in a safe manner to meet targets and maintain undisrupted operations.
- Operate and monitor machinery and equipment in a production environment.
- Operate various pieces of auxiliary and mobile equipment when required.
- Clean up excess material around the crusher using either a skid-steer and / or shovel as needed.
- Perform daily system, equipment, and work area inspections to identify, minimize and correct safety hazards, conduct quality checks, and ensure that equipment is properly maintained.
- Ensure that in all aspects of the operation, environmental policies and practices are followed, keeping the preservation of the natural environment a priority.
- Complete and maintain shift logs and reports to the level of detail required, ensuring accuracy in the reporting of data.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
General Administration and Controls :
Maintain a clean work environment free of hazards, maintaining high standards, submitting work requests to maintenance personnel.Understand and apply safe work practices.Share best practices and experiences with other operators to promote a strong and successful teamwork environment.Provide manual labour assistance on various tasks and assignments.Other duties that may arise from time to time.Qualifications and Skills Requirement :
Legal to work within Canada.Experience operating a Komatsu 500 front-end loader preferred.Ability to operate other heavy equipment (dozer, IT28, excavator).Mechanical knowledge and aptitudeAbility to identify, analyze and resolve problemsSelf-starter with a solid technical background and proven troubleshooting skills.Possess a canny attention to detail and problem-solving skillsPossess strong problem-solving skills while working under pressure requiring immediate response to issues.Good safety knowledge and understanding with the ability to recognize hazards and situations that may cause problems.Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independentlyAbility to interact with a wide variety of departments / roles within all levels of the organization.The ability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative and energetic environment.Must be physically fit and capable of performing physical labour (Lifting), shoveling, and troubleshooting machinery.Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production targets.Willing to work shift work.Flexibility regarding different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays if required.Diversity and Inclusion
