Job Summary :

  • Fishing Deckhand.
  • This Full Time / Seasonal position is to work on an offshore albacore tuna fishing vessel.
  • We need a committed crew to stay on the boat for the entire season.
  • Please note that we cannot interrupt our operations to drop crew on land.
  • Trips at sea can be as long as 9 weeks.
  • We do NOT return to land for weekends.
  • Estimated start date : May 15, 2025 (Workers needed from May through October 2025).
  • Work location : Mexican Border to Alaska, from the coast to hundreds of miles offshore.

Job Description :

  • Use and understand the safe operation of fishing gear, including lines, hooks, and other fishing tackle.
  • Operate hydraulic equipment to catch fish.
  • Clean, sort, and pack fish, and stow catch in freezer fish hold.
  • Repair nets, splice ropes and maintain fishing gear and other deck equipment.
  • Perform general maintenance work so that the deck is clean, safe, and operational.
  • Clean deck surfaces and fish hold.
  • Handle mooring lines during docking.
  • Assist with re-fueling and re-provisioning while in port.
  • Take wheel watches.
  • May prepare and cook meals for crew members.
  • Requirements :

  • Must have completed STCW Basic Safety Training curriculum (or the old MED A1 / A2).
  • First Aid and Watch Keeping Certificates are an asset.
  • Able to pass a Drug & Alcohol test as well as a fitness for work test.
  • Must possess a valid Canadian Passport and be able to enter the United States.
  • Must have at least one season of albacore tuna fishing experience.
