Lumacare is dedicated to serving older adults and seniors in high-needs neighborhoods across northwest Toronto. With a mission to empower vulnerable seniors, we offer a wide range of programs and services across six locations, supporting over 3500 community members annually with the help of our over 200 staff members and volunteers.
We are currently seeking a Director of Programs & Services.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Director of Programs & Services will be part of the Senior Leadership Team at Lumacare and will work closely with staff, volunteers, and community partners to foster a collaborative and supportive environment. This position will contribute to operational and strategic directions, spearheading special projects, quality initiatives, and growth strategies. As a strategic partner, the Director will focus on Quality and Risk Mitigation, Client Experience, and Effective Client Operations.
Responsibilities include overseeing the enhancement, delivery, and quality improvement of all community and in-home support programs, as well as identifying new initiatives to meet community needs. The Director will serve as the staff lead for the Board led, Client and Family Advisory Council, and Quality Committee, fostering relationships with stakeholders and supporting organizational capacity development. Key Accountabilities in This Role :
Strategic and Operational Planning and Implementation :
- Act as a strategic business partner and trusted advisor to the leadership team.
- Act as a staff lead and liaison for the Board Quality Committee and Family Advisory Council
- Responsible for the strategic and operational planning of all client care programs and services.
- Develop and implement operational plans for community and in-home programs.
- Set goals and objectives aligned with the organization's operational plan.
- Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness and impact.
Operational Management :
Ensure the effective delivery of services, adherence to organizational policies, and continuous improvement of programs to meet community needs.Oversee daily operations of all client care programs and services.Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility.Accountable for statistical and financial projections and reporting across all programs and services.Develop, monitor, and maintain reporting tools, and key performance indicators.Quality Management :
Collaborate with the quality and risk manager to develop and oversee the annual agency Quality and Risk plan.Drive continuous quality improvement efforts separate from program oversight.Implements strategies to enhance organizational effectiveness and ensure Lumacare is positioned for growth.Oversee and ensure compliance with Accreditation program.Ensure compliance to ‘Best Practice Spotlight Organizational audits.In partnership with Quality and Risk manager, ensure effective and safe IPAC practices and strategies are in place in alignment with Toronto Public Health and any other assigned government agency (for example, Ontario Health)Staff and Volunteer Management :
Recruit, direct, lead, monitor and supervise the management staff and volunteers.Foster a positive and inclusive team culture.Provide ongoing professional development and succession planning opportunities.Program Development and Evaluation :
Identify, develop and implement approved program initiatives / innovations and priorities based on the community needs and in line with the agency’s mission and strategic direction.Evaluate existing programs for effectiveness and areas of improvement.Utilize data and feedback to make informed decisions.Community Engagement and Partnerships :
Build and maintain relationships with community stakeholders, including local government, nonprofits, and other organizations.Represent the organization at community events and meetings.Promote community awareness and engagement in programs.Fundraising and Resource Development :
Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and donations.Collaborate with the Board fund development committee and Senior Leadership team to create fundraising strategies.Manage relationships with donors and grantors.Communication and Reporting :
Prepare and present reports on program performance to Board and stakeholders.Communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and the community.Ensure transparency and accountability in all operations.Qualifications and Experience :
Proven track record of successful management within a larger non-profit or community-based agency.At least 3 years of direct engagement with funders or government officials, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the funding landscape.Master's level education in a health-related field RN, Health Care Administration) or equivalent operational experience within the health sector, with a focus on non-profit administration preferred.Proven track record in managing and leading teams.Exceptional planning and organizational abilities, with a keen eye for both strategic vision and detailed execution.Demonstrated capacity for innovative and strategic thinking, with a knack for identifying community needs and developing impactful programs.Transparent, collaborative leadership style, capable of fostering a high-performing team environment.Effective communication skills adaptable to diverse audiences, with a focus on achieving desired outcomes.This position requires you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and you must provide Lumacare with proof of vaccination prior to employment.

Working Conditions :
Full-time position, typically Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends required for community events.Ability to travel to all work locations locally and to attend meetings and events as needed.This position offers the flexibility to work remotely; however, regular on-site presence is required to foster teamwork and enhance communication.
