The Canadian Marine Careers Foundation (CMCF) is a national, not-for-profit organization that brings together public and private sector marine stakeholders to develop innovative solutions to build a diverse, inclusive and future-ready workforce for the Canadian marine sector. The CMCF raises awareness of marine careers and training pathways, develops resources and programs to help employers improve attraction, retention and inclusion; and provides access to decision-making labour market information and research. We connect marine employers, workers, students, labour and training organizations and other stakeholders to develop unified approaches to remove barriers and create opportunities for training and upskilling.
Candidate : Must be Ontario resident and be legally allowed to work in Canada
Job Type : Full-time contract; ending March 30, 2026
Work Environment : Remote work with travel within Ontario
Compensation : $5,400 - $6,100 per month
Reports To : CMCF Executive Director
Job Summary :
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Officer to support the successful delivery of a workforce development project. The Project Officer will be responsible for coordinating, executing and monitoring project activities, ensuring alignment with relevant standards and organizational goals. This role requires strong organizational and communications skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, stakeholders, and external partners in the marine sector.
Key Responsibilities :
1 Support the development and maintenance of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
2 Set up stakeholder advisory group and act as primary point of contact for project partners, ensuring clarity on project timelines and requirements.
3 Establish new applicant referral channels and processes with employment, student-facing and community organizations.
4 Deliver project presentations to partners and coordinate and host information sessions for interested applicants.
5 Review applications for adherence to eligibility criteria and mandatory requirements and provide recommendations to Executive Director and project partners.
6 Support procurement and logistical arrangements for project participants.
7 Coordinate with CMCF internal communications and financial team, external vendors, and marine training providers to ensure smooth project execution.
8 Track project progress, identify risks, and provide regular updates to the Executive Director.
9 Maintain accurate project and participant documentation, reports, and records in compliance with specific targets as well as privacy and applicable regulatory requirements.
10 Contribute to process improvements and best practices in project execution.
Qualifications & Requirements :
University degree in business, human resources, or a related field; or a combination of education and professional experience in project management.
3-5 years of professional experience in project management, preferably with experience in education, training, government or human resources-related projects.
Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple files.
Excellent stakeholder management abilities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills (Fluent in English).
Excellent client service skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Knowledge of marine sector is an asset.
Travel Requirements : Remote work is required predominantly but there will also be requirement to travel within Ontario for onsite engagements. Candidates must have a valid Ontario driver’s license. Travel costs will be reimbursed.
