Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled individual to take on the role of Manager of Quality and Risk to join our dynamic team. Your objectives in this position will be to lead a highly skilled team to work closely with all leaders across Southlake to embed high reliability principles to advance patient safety, reduce harm through risk mitigation, champion the quintuple aim, and co-design with patients and families. You will have broad corporate accountabilities to ensure we are meeting legislatively accountabilities (e.G., ECFAA), advancing quality / safety, reducing harm and supporting better patient outcomes. Your leadership style will be agile, flexible and proactive with transparent and effective communication that fosters a just and solution focused culture. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing privacy policies and risk management strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and protect patient confidentiality and sensitive information. This role will work closely with the Director of the Department, hospital leaders, directors, managers, staff, and external vendors (BLG, HIROC, etc). Primary Responsibilities This position will have broad responsibilities including but not limited to- Development of the Integrated Quality Management Framework and Patient Safety Plan- Development of the Quality Improvement Plan in partnership with staff, physicians, patients and families- Manage patient safety initiatives which include the critical and non-critical incident management process, safety walkabouts, new patient safety policies, analyzing tredns and implementing evidence-based approaches to improve patient safety.- Identify, plan and assist in the execution of annual FMEA’s to reduce harm, mitigate risk and improve staff / patient experience.- Analysis and trending of patient safety challenges, and outcomes of incident reviews.- Developing key metrics and measuring progress and the evidence of impact related to corporate projects and being a key resource for the team to develop local metrics supporting clinical programs.- Leading the organization in developing a high reliability framework, leveraging expert skills (e.G., Blackbelt Lean, Six Sigma) to develop the team and providing support / education to clinical program areas.- Lead for the accreditation process for all of Southlake, ensuring that new standards, required organizational practices and changes in methodology are shared with leaders.- Ensuring the organization meets all legislative requirements, overseeing the enterprise risk management process and protecting privacy of patients.- Overseeing the Privacy Program and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and acting as a liaison to the Chief Privacy Officer.- Ensuring the organization has support for both privacy and risk consultations for new and existing programs- Overseeing all external reporting requirements for the program (e.G., Privacy Report, ECFAA).- Responsible for human resources including the planning, hiring, performance management, coaching and ongoing evaluation of staffing needs.- Managing the financial budget and monitoring variances to ensure the financial health of Southlake Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in health administration, Business Administration, Health related discipline or relevant degree- Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a healthcare organization, preferably acute care with : o Advanced knowledge in quality improvement, service design methodologies / tools and patient safety skillso Leading accreditation in a large acute care settingo Understanding of privacy in a healthcare environment, (e.G., knowledge with PHIPA, FIPPA, Hospital Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, and other legislation in a healthcare setting)o Demonstrated ability to manage and implement multiple complex quality initiatives within established timeframes and targets- Demonstrated experience in facilitation, collaboration and negotiation with multiple stakeholders and service providers- Advanced knowledge of data management, statistical analysis and data visualization- Certified Patient Safety Officer (CPSO) designation- Models behavior that is aligned with the values of Southlake Regional Health Center.o Always with compassiono Power of manyo Serve with purposeo Every voice matterso Courage to think differently Regular and reliable attendance is an expected requirement of this position.
