We are in search of a Fixed Asset Accountant to join our team in Burlington, Ontario. In this role, you will have a significant impact on the organization by ensuring accurate accounting of capital and intangible asset transactions. You will also be coordinating administrative tasks related to capital and lease approvals, and preparing related reporting. You will be a part of a team that values precision and efficiency in maintaining customer records and resolving inquiries. This is a hybrid position requiring 2-3 days per week onsite.
Responsibilities :
- Account for all capital and intangible asset transactions in the General Ledger accurately.
- Coordinate the administrative tasks related to capital and lease approvals.
- Prepare reports related to capital and lease approvals, including budgeting and forecasting.
- Support other departments with information on the correct accounting treatment of capital projects.
- Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Ensure all accounting activities align with internal and external regulations and requirements.
- Assist with gathering information for audits.
- Prepare journal entries as needed to complete assigned functions.
- Use skills in BlackLine, Capitalization, Fixed Asset Accounting, Fixed Asset Additions, Fixed Asset Depreciation, Fixed Asset Inventory, Fixed Asset Ledger, Fixed Asset Register, Fixed Asset Records, Fixed Assets, Maintain Fixed Asset, Lease Accounting, and Capital Assets to perform duties effectively.
- Possession of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Fixed Asset Accounting.
- CPA designation or active enrollment as a CPA student is an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of capitalization rules and procedures.
- Proven experience in Fixed Asset Additions and Fixed Asset Depreciation.
- Knowledge of ASC 842 / IFRS 16.
- Experience in managing a Fixed Asset Ledger.
- Working knowledge of Oracle, AS400, PeopleSoft and Tableau is preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Past experience maintaining Capital Assets in a multi location environment is preferred.
- Assist in month end close including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Knowledge of Lease Accounting procedures.
- Experience in managing Capital Assets.
