Project Opportunity
FCC Canada is looking for an Estimator to join the Cross Fraser Partnership.
The Cross Fraser Partnership team that will collaborate with the Province through the development phase is comprised of Bouygues Construction Canada Inc.
Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas Canada Ltd., and Pomerleau BC Inc.
The Fraser River Tunnel Project includes a new, eight-lane immersed tube tunnel that will replace the existing George Massey Tunnel on Highway 99.
The new tunnel will have three vehicle lanes and a dedicated transit lane in each direction, with a separate active transportation corridor for cyclists and pedestrians.
The project also includes replacing the Deas Slough Bridge and decommissioning of the existing tunnel once the new immersed tube tunnel is in operation.
Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for accuracy of bid cost created in Hard Dollar estimating software.
- Analyze documents, drawings, specifications, and proposals, in preparation for pricing.
- Visit project sites prior to price preparation.
- Obtain input from operations staff as appropriate.
- Perform quantity take-off from construction drawings where applicable.
- Support the process to obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors and incorporate into estimate.
- Formulate costs for tender submission labour, equipment, material, rentals, and subcontracts.
- Good understanding of risks relevant to scope of works priced.
- Manage the handover process upon award of project.
- Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed tenders.
- Assist with Post Bid / Post Project Analysis completion and ensure that associated learning and communication takes place.
- Comply with Estimating process / procedure and consistency.
- Maintain positive relationships with Clients, Consultants, and key subcontractors.
- Protect all forms of proprietary information.
- Maintain Estimating data systems to ensure they are kept up to date.
Education and Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
- 6 - 10 years of progressive estimating experience in heavy civil construction, track, buildings, or related disciplines is required.
- Knowledge and / or experience of the highway industry and / or marine works environment is preferred.
- Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access) is essential.
- Estimating software experience required, ideally using Hard Dollar.
- An understanding of site conditions impacting bid costs and constructability.
- Knowledge of various types of construction contracts (particularly Cost Reimbursable, Target, and Guaranteed Maximum Price.)
Job Requirements
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQs) independently.
- Understanding of the job handover process (from estimating to operations).
- Attention to detail, mathematical and analytical skills, and accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Skilled at building positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative manner.

The expected salary range for this opportunity is $130,000-$170,000 CAD. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and geographical location.
Listed compensation is exclusive of bonus and in addition to our extensive employee benefits program. Availability of certain benefits may vary based on the specific job role.
