GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Company's communications are designed to inform, influence, and engage our team members. As an Employee Communications Specialist (bilingual English / French preferred), you will play a crucial role in achieving this objective by creating and executing communication strategies to ensure the effective flow of information across all departments.
You will keep team members informed about company news, goals, projects, and plans, and enhance employee engagement by supporting company events, recognition programs, and other initiatives as needed.
Success in this position will depend on strong critical thinking skills, the ability to create impactful communications, and creativity to engage all audiences.
You will need an understanding of our company's mission and values to help align communications with our business goals and objectives.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop communication plans in support of business objectives
- Write and edit content for various internal communication channels
- Develop content for products, services, policies, and employee interest stories
- Manage and maintain document archives
- Ensure communication messages are consistent across all mediums and audiences within the organization and aligned with external messaging / brand identity
- Promote the company's vision, mission, and values through internal communication activities
- Partner with stakeholders from a variety of departments to effectively communicate operational changes and initiatives
- Act as a liaison between departments to facilitate information flow
- Participate in a consistent feedback loop from stakeholders for continuous improvement of communications
- Think with a creative problem-solving mindset to ensure digestible and effective communications
- Collect and interpret data on audience feedback and message penetration to refine strategies, and measure the effectiveness of communication efforts
- Other tasks as deemed necessary by the VP, People and Culture, to support business needs
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
- 3-4 years of hands-on internal / employee communications experience in a distributed work environment
- Experience in the financial services industry a plus
- Experience working with virtual teams
- Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, English, psychology, or another related field
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in Canadian French preferred
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and Canva
- Experience with multimedia editing platforms
- Demonstrated ability to manage relationships throughout the organization, coordinating time, and resources according to shifting priorities
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced working environment
- Proven ability and discipline to work remotely with minimal supervision
- Excellent judgment, strict adherence to confidentiality requirements, and professionalism in all situations
- Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- A commitment to producing quality deliverables in all circumstances
- Ability to synthesize large amounts of information effectively and strategically
- Extraordinary attention to detail is critical for this role
