Job Summary :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team. The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems and projects, including HVAC (ductwork), refrigeration, and piping.

The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of mechanical systems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities :

• Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed and accurate estimates for mechanical systems.
• Prepare cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to develop project scopes and requirements.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and potential challenges.
• Identify and assess risks associated with mechanical systems and propose cost-effective solutions.
• Review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure alignment with project requirements and budget.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, pricing, and standards to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.
• Prepare and present cost reports and estimates to clients and stakeholders.
• Track and manage changes in project scope and adjust estimates as necessary.
• Support the project team during negotiations and finalization of contracts.

Qualifications :

• ONE of the following :
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
• Diploma in mechanical engineering technology
• Journeyman Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic with 5+ years experience who is looking to transition from the field to an office role.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems such as HVAC (ductwork), refrigeration, and piping.
• Proficiency with estimating software and tools.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with clients, engineers, and project teams.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, etc.).
• Project management experience / education would be considered a strong asset.

Compensation :

• Compensation is negotiable based on experience and relevant qualifications.
