Summary ofResponsibilities :

Championsafe work practices creation and implementation of employeesafeworking procedures awareness and accident preventionprograms.

Develop and monitor systems train and educateemployees on reporting hazards and workplace processes to minimizeinjuries in the workplace.

Manage all aspectsof physical hotel security including security personnel (ThirdParty and Department Managers) keys access control passcodessecurity cameras alarms guest room security.

Managementof security contract and officers.

  • Ongoingdevelopment and delivery of security and workplace health andsafety orientation programs.
  • Thorough andtimely investigation reporting and follow up of internal andexternal security and health related accidents incidents orreports.

Conduct frequent audits of departments and provide expertrecommendations. Conducts follow up with departments leaders andemployees as required to ensure ongoing culture of safety securityawareness and prevention.

  • Work with externalgroups and / or security agencies on security measures for specialevents groups or VIPs.
  • Liaise with local lawenforcement and community peers on security related matters. Act asfirst contact for emergency agencies.
  • Lead anddevelop strategies communication training and coaching of allemployees for emergency systems andprocedures.
  • Manage business continuity andcrisis management (A.L.E.R.T.) programs including training recordkeeping and updates to documentation.
  • Ensurecompliance with all corporate loss prevention health &safety and security guidelines andprocedures.
  • Own hotel health and safetyprograms and training including safe workpractices employee security procedures awareness programsand accident prevention.
  • Development anddelivery of fire response and evacuation training for all internalstakeholders.
  • Chair of the joint occupationalhealth & safety committee. Conduct monthly reporting andtraining for awareness. Lead and train committee membersand department managers in the development and execution ofstrategies to improve the overall health and wellness of the hotelcommunity.
  • Management upkeep and ongoingtraining of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS2015) for all required employees to ensure compliance withregulations.
  • Ensure hotel meets all conditionsof WorksafeBC Certificate of Recognition (COR) Audit. Work asliaison with WorkSafeBC and Go2HR and participate in annualaudit.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge ofWorkSafeBC worksite requirements and ensure compliance at alltimes.
  • Periodically conduct employee baggageand locker inspections
  • Manage and conductregular security patrols to ensure adequate presence in all partsof the property.
  • Manage Occupational First Aidtraining and records for applicablestaff
  • Manage security video systems includingaccess storage and training according to hotelprotocols
  • Ensure First Aid kits and equipmentare maintained and stocked in a timelymanner
  • All other duties asassigned

Qualifications :

Yourexperience and skillsinclude :

  • Minimum 2years of experience in a leadership role within a comparableindustry
  • Minimum 2 years of security health& safety or loss prevention experience anasset.
  • Must be available to work a variety ofshifts including weekends & holidays mornings middaysevenings & overnights
  • Strongcommunication skills with the ability to develop trustingrelationships and fostercooperation
  • Occupational First Aid Level 2certification an asset.
  • Attention todetail.
  • Selfstarter and able to workunsupervised.
  • Must be able to react well andhave ability to be assertive underpressure.
  • Comfortable dealing with securityrelated issues.
  • Valid BC Security workerlicense an asset.
  • WorkSafeBC Certificate ofRecognition Auditor certification anasset.
