POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the implementation, configuration, monitoring, documentation, back up, and efficient maintenance and operations of a highly available computing environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations of on-premises distributed systems services.
- Maintains the integrity of the operating system server environment.
- Installs system software upgrades including planning and scheduling, testing, and coordination.
- Manages on-premises infrastructure to meet Kruger business objectives for all Kruger business units and sites.
- Manages M365 services related to messaging, mobility, and modern deployment, working with Security to ensure guidelines are respected.
- Monitors services health, availability, and capacity to provide services and support SLAs.
- Coordinates internal and external specialists and partners to implement complex project and operations deliverables.
- Implements, manages, and monitors various business and infrastructure services such as fax servers, Exchange, terminal servers, business applications, Web services, etc.
Ensures that all services are documented and backed up.
- Collaborates with service providers and consultants (e.g. application specialists, network specialists, security specialists, systems administrators), ensuring that they perform their duties in accordance with Company requirements.
- Performs workstation and server installation and administration. Maintains user directory (AD) services and Operating System services such as file systems, filesystem replication, etc.
Coordinates disk space and storage allocations. Maintains and produces related monthly KPI reports, as well as software and hardware inventories.
- Monitors and maintains continuity with system software licensing and maintenance agreements.
- Administers and maintains the backup software and hardware. Performs data backups and recoveries and maintains the tape libraries and media.
- Responsible for maintaining, configuring, securing, and monitoring day-to-day back up operations for all centralized servers.
- Performs daily systems monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes and reviewing system and application logs.
- On-call rotational schedule and after-hours support.
STATISTICAL CLASSIFICATION
1,300 virtual machines in multiple data centers.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures that all Active Directory related services such as DNS, GPOs, WINS, Users, Groups, Computers, security, and replication are functioning according to industry best practices.
- Assists with maintenance of data center environmental systems and integration with DR facilities by monitoring HVAC, power, fire control, alarms, and security systems.
- Installs new or rebuild existing physical or virtual servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc.
in accordance with standards and project / operational requirements. Maintains the servers up to date with Windows or firmware updates.
Documents related operational tasks.
Logs all efforts using the Service Management ticket management system.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
5-7 years in a systems administration role or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
Technical requirements :
- Mastery of Microsoft Active Directory and related services (GPO, DHCP, DNS, etc.).
- Experience with VMware vSphere (vCenter, ESXi, etc.), vRealize Operations Management Suite an asset, operating in a highly available environment,
- Experience with on-premises and cloud backup solutions. Veeam expertise is an asset.
- Experience with and general knowledge of server hardware and data center administration in a critical environment.
- Experience managing Microsoft Exchange in a hybrid configuration is an asset.
- Experience with operations support in a disaster recovery environment.
- Knowledge of storage area networking (SAN) and virtual array management.
- Experience with PowerShell.
- Excellent understanding of network fundamentals (TCP / IP, DNS, Routing protocols, IPsec, VPN etc.)
- CCNA MCITP MCSA certificate an asset.
LANGUAGES
Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.
Knowledge of English is required for this specific position as Kruger deals with partners across North America and the successful candidate will be required to communicate frequently with them.
