About the role

We’re looking for an Senior Risk Control Consultant to join our growing Property and Casualty team!

As a Risk Control Consultant , you will collaborate with internal business partners, clients, regulatory authorities and industry professionals on Risk Control issues.

This position involves the identification, and mitigation through focused recommendations, physical and operational hazards (fire, explosion, natural hazard, machinery breakdown, premises liability, products liability, etc.

What you’ll do here :

Developing, implementing and championing the required Insurance Risk Control client service focus by understanding clients’ needs and cultivating trusting relationships with clients and Intact partners

Proactively identifying opportunities to better serve clients by delivering innovative services and solutions

Supporting client retention and business development with Risk Control strategies and initiatives

Providing insurance marketing support via Risk Control Reports, outlining recommendations for improvement; prepare loss expectancies (EML, PML) and presentation of the risk to insurers on an as required basis

Pursuing continuous learning & development, seeking opportunities to build new skills that deliver value to our Intact Clients and Partners

Fostering and motivating a collaborative team culture across groups, units and teams with our Risk Control colleagues and Intact Partners

Energizing others to live the Intact values to their fullest

Other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

What you bring to the table :

Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in Property Risk Control for large commercial / industrial / manufacturing and (commercial) liability insurance

Superior knowledge of relevant Fire Protection Codes and Standards (NFPA) is expected

Knowledge in completing design reviews for water-based fire protection systems, aided with experience in conducting inspections and testing

Strong analysis, problem solving and decision-making capabilities with the ability to work independently

Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both verbally and written

Attention to details, organization, and prioritization skills

Must have strong computer skills and be proficient with the Microsoft Office Package

Good understanding of Factory Mutual FM Data Sheets and field service methodology is desired

Able to provide a valid drivers license and a clear 5-year drivers abstract

Education :

Post-secondary degree or diploma focused on technical and engineering fields (Mechanical, Chemical, Fire Protection, Civil, Electrical, or other) is preferred, or any combination of training and experience deemed relevant for the role

Currently holding or working towards a related engineering designation will be an asset (i.e. : P.Eng)

Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development with a willingness to obtain the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Certified Risk Management (CRM) designations is preferred

Salary of the successful candidate will typically be positioned between the following range, taking into consideration a number of factors including prior experience, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, location and internal equity :

$81,900.00 - $122,900.00
