BFL CANADA is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Consultant in our Risk Control Engineering department!

Our Risk Control Engineering team plays a critical role in helping BFL CANADA's clients manage and mitigate risks associated with their operations and projects.

We employ a client-centric approach leveraging our technical expertise and advocacy skills to help our clients develop practical, cost-effective strategies that promote safety and reduce.

Your primary responsibility is to provide property and casualty risk control engineering services to BFL CANADA colleagues and clients in support of their insurance placement and risk control needs and to provide exceptional service that BFL CANADA clients expect.

Your day as a Risk Consultant

  • Provide risk control expertise and advice to BFL CANADA colleagues and clients relating to risk control engineering, fire protection systems, boiler and machinery systems and other insurable risks
  • Perform risk control surveys and deliver engineering reports for insurance placement and / or internal risk assessments in timely fashion and in accordance with BFL CANADA best practices and specifications
  • Advocate on behalf of BFL CANADA and our clients in response to risk control or mitigation concerns
  • Provide risk improvement services to clients including analysis and evaluation of existing risk services procedures and develop recommendations or action plans to mitigate loss
  • Develop strong client relationships and deliver valued client service to create and sustain client engagement
  • Collaborate with client service teams' marketing efforts to support client retention and acquisition
  • Develop and contribute to additional resources or services offered by the Risk Control team such as educational seminars, technical newsletters, and internal education for BFL CANADA service teams
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and other business units
  • Offer assistance and mentorship to other members of the Risk Control team

Our ideal candidate

  • Engineering degree (BASc, BENG, BE) or technical degree in relevant discipline (DipT, AAS, AAT) ideally with mechanical, electrical or civil specialization
  • Professional engineering designations preferred (P.Eng, PE, Ing.) an asset
  • Expertise in mining operations essential
  • 7+ years of experience in risk control engineering or related field
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve problems
  • French or Spanish proficiency considered an asset as our clients are located throughout North America
  • Flexibility to travel for site inspections within North America, South or Central America and potentially elsewhere
