The Estimating and Sourcing Specialist is a vital role to the operational process of our project team. We are searching for a meticulous and detail-oriented individual.
This role will require the successful candidate to work efficiently and quickly without compromising details and information.
You must have strong computer skills, furniture experience, and bring a high level of energy to the preliminary and execution phases of every project at By Quality.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Estimating and Sourcing Specialist based in Vaughan, Ontario. The Estimating and Sourcing Specialist is responsible for tasks such as analyzing project requirements, communicating with clients, managing vendor bids, conducting takeoffs, and issuing purchase orders.
Estimating Responsibilities
- Review, analyze and interpret furniture bid package specifications and requirements to prepare accurate project bids.
- Develop comprehensive quote packages for suppliers including quantities and materials.
- Distribute bid packages to suppliers for quotation, ensuring that all necessary information is included for accurate responses.
- Calculate and provide accurate material costs for furniture based on project requirements and market conditions.
- Maintain ongoing communication with suppliers to follow up on quotes, address inquiries, and clarify specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of quotes, purchase orders, and supplier communications for reporting and compliance purposes.
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure competitive and value driven pricing.
- Review supplier quotes and prepare bids within 3-7 business days.
Sourcing Responsibilities
- Perform detailed material take-offs to determine the quantities and specifications needed for purchase.
- Create and submit purchase orders for approval once projects are awarded and reviewed internally.
- Collaborate with the design and project management teams to align estimating and sourcing with project budget and timelines.
- Accurately present original bid data and reports; conduct material takeoffs and provide comparisons to the team.
- Assess risks associated with supplier selection and material sourcing to mitigate potential issues during project execution.
- Collaborate with teams including design, production, and project management.
Qualifications
- Analytical skills and communication.
- Experience in a furniture or store fixture manufacturing environment with estimating or design employment.
- Proficiency in basic mathematical equations, and furniture design and construction.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills including programs such as ERPs, Microsoft Office 365, Adobe.
- Knowledge of the hospitality furniture industry is an asset.
- Post Secondary Education in Furniture Making, Product Development, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
