About the Role

The Infrastructure Management Compute & Storage Team is currently looking for an Intermediate Systems Administrator. You will be responsible for the management and support of all Compute and Storage infrastructure apart from networking.

Additional services provided include Active Directory, Automation and Corporate FTP. You will support the delivery of Teranet systems and services availability on-premises and in Azure private cloud on a 7 x 24 x 365 basis.

You will also work on medium to high complexity projects and assignments and will coach and mentor junior level staff.

The team operates from our 2 Data Centre locations (Mississauga, North York) and Toronto Head Office in support of on-premises and Azure private cloud infrastructure.

The successful candidate can work out of any of our locations. 5-day work week during regular business hours. 2 days in the office, 3 days remote.

Rotational after hours, On-Call support via remote access to systems from home. Overtime and off-hours work may be required to support activities and projects outside normal operations.

Equipment supplied to permit remote work for off hour production support or change implementation.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supports all team compute and storage infrastructure functions.
  • Automation of processes relating to operational procedures.
  • Represents team in cross organizational working groups as required.
  • Provide second level Infrastructure support to established service level agreements
  • Independently solve system problems with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Manage and Administer Virtual Environment Azure and VMware
  • Ensuring infrastructure high-availability, performance and capacity per SLA and best practices. This includes making improvements to achieve high availability.
  • Conduct incident and problem management per ITIL and Teranet change control policy.
  • Perform operating system security and audit vulnerability remediation and support
  • Support application teams and other Infrastructure teams to promote changes.
  • Recommend corrective or enhancement actions to infrastructure and applications for issue fix or system optimization
  • Support scheduled On-Call rotations

About You

  • University Degree, or equivalent experience in the computing field
  • 7+ years or more of experience in IT infrastructure support role
  • Must have strong understanding of IT security best practices
  • Experience with Windows Operating systems 2012R2 and up
  • Excellent knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, DNS, and Windows clustering
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure - Private Cloud (Must Have’s)
  • Experience with VMWare ESXi 7.x
  • Experience with Cisco UCS and Nutanix Systems Hardware management
  • Azure Red Hat Offering (ARO) and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) environments
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience is beneficial
  • Strong knowledge DevOps technologies and automation
  • Proficiency managing endpoints with PowerShell or Ansible
  • Knowledge of Citrix management and / or Azure VDI
  • Experience with storage systems (SAN / NAS)
  • Proficient in NFS and CIFS management
  • Dependable, reliable performance under all circumstances with an eye on continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Proactive take ownership approach to the infrastructure, systems, and service levels.
  • Dealing with all system issues and user requests professionally and efficiently.
  • Ability to exercise judgment and if necessary, justify and report actions taken.
  • Excellent verbal skills and customer support to provide phone support to application teams and clients when required.
  • Excellent Written communications skills required to document and report on new systems, activities, and procedures.
  • Ability to efficiently work independently, with peers or groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Collaborator who follows procedures set in place to provide reactive and proactive support for Mission Critical’ systems.

  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator - RHCSA
