Position Overview

Reporting to the Site Manager, the Production Manager is responsible forensuring organizational effectiveness by providing leadership and overseeingall aspects of production and customer operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the operations for all production shifts in the automated facility
  • Generate, analyze, and provide feedback relating to a variety of production and key performance indicator reports, ensuring superior, data-driven operational output
  • Provide key performance indicator statistics and trend analysis, ensuring performance is measurable and traceable
  • Work with the Site Manager to review operating procedures to achieve and maintain customer service levels
  • Drive departmental and team operational excellence through regular process reviews and real-time feedback based on measurable deliverables
  • Manage employee headcounts through effective workforce planning, managing labour costs, and supporting results-driven team structure
  • Maintain open, effective, and responsive communication with the customer on all aspect of operations
  • Be available to respond to any operational needs for all shifts
  • Provide leadership and support, including training and development to Production Superintendents and Supervisors
  • Responsible for overall productivity, output and operational costs
  • Develop action plans as required to ensure continuous improvement
  • Organize, co-ordinate and lead the production team in accordance with company policies, laws and regulations
  • Provide leadership, by mentoring future leaders, promoting open communication between teams, coaching on process and procedural compliance, leading training and development initiatives, and promoting the company’s values
  • Be on call and respond efficiently to all conditions, minimizing machinery downtime and promoting urgency when dealing with situations involving system outages or system repairs
  • Action immediate resolutions to irregular operations through review of process deviations and implementation of innovative and effective solutions
  • Promote and ensure proper escalation protocols are utilized
  • Hire, lead and train employees in the use of new equipment or production techniques
  • Actively participate with operations and maintenance to finalize priority of work orders, optimum downtime windows, and necessary lead times
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks, and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Engineering, Business Admin or equivalent related field
  • Five to eight years experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to implement systems and lead by example
  • Familiarity with quality principles, continuous improvement methodologies, basic logistics, and supply chain principles
  • Analytical nature and able to problem solve
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks and work load
  • Practical attitude and ability to learn new skills and tasks
  • Excellent Communication Skills in English; French an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Previous experience in warehouse, supply chain, manufacturing, grocery, or retail industries
  • Basic understanding of automated material handling system

Travel and Shifts

  • This role may require occasional domestic and / or international travel in order to undergoing relevant training, to attend internal and / or customer meetings, and / or to support other facilities as needed
  • Flexibility to work any shift as required by operational needs
  • Ability to be on-call as needed to ensure operational integrity
