Key Responsibilities
- Independently plan, perform, and optimize purification workflows of multispecific antibody therapeutics using AKTA (FPLC) systems, gravity flow columns, and high-throughput plate-based methods
- Perform analytical and biophysical characterization of antibodies and other protein therapeutics for quality control, stability, and developability studies.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate binding studies using SPR, BLI, Kinexa and / or flow cytometry methods, either independently or in collaboration with teammates
- Analyze and review data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations for future investigations
- Initiate and execute novel methods and / or suggest innovative and impactful changes to methods independently or in collaboration with team members
- Participate in cross-departmental collaborative activities and present data at departmental and project team meetings
- Seek to understand ongoing projects through attention to scientific literature, industry publications, and internally generated data and employs this understanding to improve contribution to project goals
- Maintain a clean, organized, and operational lab
- Conduct all activities in accordance with scientific standards, OH&S regulations and established policies and practices
- Actively work to foster an environment of effective and collaborative working relationships across the organization
- Adhere to Zymeworks’ standard procedures for generating, documenting, and archiving data, maintaining an accurate, up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook
Education and Experience
Requires a MSc in a relevant scientific discipline with 3-5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
Skills and Abilities :
- Good working knowledge and hands-on experience in several of the following areas : Protein purification (e.g. protein A / G / L, IEX, IMAC, and SEC) and familiarity with AKTA (FPLC) systems Protein analytics : PAGE, CE-SDS, HPLC-SEC, cIEF, HIC, ELISA, DSC, DSF, DLS, MALS Binding affinity measurements by SPR, BLI, or Kinexa Additional experience with flow-cytometry, FACS, or other fluorescence cell-based methods would be a plus
- Experience with developability and stability assessments of antibody-based therapeutics would be desirable
- Good organizational and time management skills, work effectively in a fast paced, fast changing environment
- Good critical observation with analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Good communication skills, including scientific / technical writing and oral skills. Ability to present data effectively at team meetings and inter-departmental meetings
