About the role

Manager, Software Development, Quality Assurance and Automated Testing

We are looking for a driven, enthusiastic, and innovative Manager, Software Development - Financial Systems who will manage, inspire and lead the expansion of a team that delivers initiatives to support Intact's finance modernization and strategic acquisition programs.

Your key focus will be to strengthen and evolve QA, Environment Management and Release Management practices of the Financial Systems (FinSys) team.

You will be responsible for all aspects of testing, environment and release management activities, and ensuring adequate staffing to support these activities throughout the lifecycle of various initiatives.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong experience in leading overall test effort including test planning, test execution and defect management process.

Experience in and understanding test methodologies and resource planning is essential.

Work location : Toronto or Montreal

This role will offer you the chance to :

Lead and manage the QA, Environment Management and Release Management practice of a growing FinSys transformation team

Build, recruit and grow a high performing team consisting of Test Leads, Manual & Automation Testers and Release Coordinator.

Drive the implementation and evolution of DevOps QA & Release Management practices while proactively working to increase the knowledge of your team

Leverage your expertise and experience to set quality standards

Have exposure to delivering solutions using emerging technology stack

Work with a diverse and open-minded group of individuals and stakeholders across multiple Business and IT teams

Collaborate on the delivery and execution of high visibility initiatives within the FinSys portfolio of projects

Act as the final authority on all quality, environments and release management issues

Help shape the transformation of the FinSys team’s ways of working and delivery framework.

You'll also handle many key responsibilities such as :

Quality Assurance

Lead the QA / UAT team in the development of all testing-related documentation, including test plans, test cases / scripts, checklists, bug reports and test result tracking.

Foster communication and collaboration between developers and testers.

Liaise with internal teams and 3rd party vendors for software deployments, testing scope definition, timelines and regular defect management.

Develop and maintain resource plan to ensure the testing is adequately staffed for the successful execution of the testing cycles.

Facilitate the development, documentation and maintenance of application testing software.

Ensure efficient and high standards in performing functional, integration, system, regression, usability and performance testing.

Increase level of automation where practical and best suited for productivity gains.

Establish SLAs, define metrics and reporting with an eye for maximizing quality while meeting timelines.

Maintain a strong business focus with an understanding of the current and strategic direction of Intact technologies.

Collaborate with business and IT teams to ensure successful delivery of initiatives.

Prioritize and manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Have strategic foresight for opportunities and question the status quo.

Environment Management

Accountable for timely provisioning of validated, stable and usable environments and all related activities.

Ensure holistic management of environments until all iterations are completed.

Release Management

Oversee the management, planning, scheduling, and controlling of an entire software build through every stage and environment involved, including testing and deploying software releases.

Ensure effective multi-team collaboration and efficient coordination of all release activities (Configuration Management, Release & Deployment Management, Designing, Planning, Rollout Planning & Testing Communication, etc.).

Establish and evolve the FinSys release lifecycle management and optimize release management process flow.

Build and maintain FinSys Release Calendar, working closely FinSys managers and release managers from different portfolios across IT and provide centralized view of all releases impacting FinSys.

Conduct Release Readiness reviews and participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings.

People & Practice Management

Develop application architecture and associated best practices.

Lead incremental transition towards a more agile delivery model.

Lead / participate in status meetings.

What you bring to the table :

8+ years experience leading, managing & developing a team of testers.

At least 10 years experience with hands-on manual and automation testing with multiple, integrated, applications.

For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.

Hands on experience with Jira and HPSM or similar test and defect management tools.

Experience with Environment Management and Release Management.

Experience with data conversion testing & validation.

Experience with an agile / iterative development life cycle testing.

Organized, autonomous, results-oriented, proactive and a driver of change.

Ability to plan and prioritize within a context of competing priorities and time pressure.

Experience in change management and transformation within a project / program context.

Effective communication skills (verbal and written).

Excellent organizational, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of management and staff.

Ability to work effectively both independently and in team environments, considering multiple points of view and managing conflicts.

Comfortable working in a constantly evolving technological environment.

No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Strong Assets for the role :

Financial services and / or consulting experience.

Familiarity with Accounting and Financial reporting processes and operations and General Ledger systems.

Experience with Financial Systems : Oracle Financials, Enterprise Financial ERP systems (ex : Oracle Cloud Financials), Oracle reporting products, Cloud integration, data and / or analytics solutions;

Oracle eBusiness, Oracle Fusion, EPM.

IFRS17 knowledge and experience.
