The GO Expansion scope : new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.
Alstom is seeking a Project Test & Commissioning Manager (VTA Manager). The Validation, Test and Acceptance Manager is responsible for the demonstration that the transport system to be delivered to the customer meets the requirements and the performances for the turnkey project he / she is assigned.
Responsibilities
- Lead and Coordinate all activities related to the Integration, Validation, Testing and Acceptance of all the subsystems off & on shore
- Define VTA objectives and processes to all subsystems
- Take decisions and arbitrations in defining the strategy for subsystems and system integration process (compatibility, interoperability, communication protocol, operational scenarios ), by optimizing test programs and by leveraging all integration test campaigns and test platforms along project execution
- Pilot, in close relationship with Project Requirement Manager, the validation of contract requirements all along subsystems & system integration process, from FAT's to final acceptance tests, in order to provide all required evidences for final customer acceptance.
- Pilot test campaigns on-site, both at subsystem and system level, including the provision of temporary operation processes, resources and means.
- Identify and escalate subsystems / system VTA risks or issues (compliance to applicable standard, conformity to technical specification, compatibility with other subsystems )
- Act as main contact person for all stakeholders in regard of VTA activities
- Report on subsystems / system VTA execution
- Manage VTA Gate Reviews (GR) from Preliminary Gate Review (PGR) till the Final Quality Approval Review (FQA)
- Accountable for the Integration, Validation and Acceptance of subsystems by the manufacturers
- Accountable for the Acceptance of subsystems / system by the customer / operator
- Estimate and measure the costs of the platform Integration & Validation tests
Reporting
The role will have 3-5 direct reports and hierarchically report to the Project Director.
Educational Requirements
Mandatory :
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering
Desirable :
- Master's Degree in Engineering or Project Management
- Professional Engineer designation as per Canadian regulations or in progress
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years of experience on railway projects
- Minimum 5 years in testing and commissioning in identical field
- International project experience
Desirable :
- Knowledgeable of railway system
- Electrical power distribution system
