Job description

Kelly Cove Salmon Ltd., a division of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., a dynamic and growing east coast family company, with Platinum Member status in Canada’s Best Managed Companies Program, is offering a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join the Company’s team as a Fresh Water Lead Hand for our various locations.

Cooke is a global seafood company with operations in North America, Europe, and South America. Our company’s success is driven by our dynamic, highly skilled and innovative management team, supported by dedicated employees who live in coastal communities and contribute to the local area’s economy and sense of community.

The Role

Primary duties include :

  • Lead key production activities at the facility
  • Lead and motivate teams, coach and train others
  • Communicate well with team, with manager, with external contractors or suppliers
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Production activities including feeding, grading, vaccination, transports, smolt management, egg and fry incubation, first feeding
  • Understanding of water quality management in RAS
  • Ability to work with technical equipment and processes
  • Competency with computer data base, emails, Teams, monitoring systems, other data platforms
  • Ability to respond to alarms and emergencies
  • Ability to work irregular hours to complete production activities on time
  • Accurate data collection, input, and data management
  • Daily hatchery routines
  • Clean and maintain equipment
  • Follow all SOPs, Health and Safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Previous Experience operating a RAS facility and leading teams is considered and asset.
  • The ideal candidate will have completed aquaculture training from a recognized educational institute and have at least 2 years’ experience at a salmon aquaculture facility.

Other experience may be considered

The ideal candidate will have completed aquaculture training from a recognized educational institute.

Previous experience with water quality testing would be considered an asset.
