Salary : $52,536 to $60,509 annually ($27.87 to $32.10 hourly)

Classification : Clerk 5

Assiniboine Community College has been providing exceptional learning experiences that have been transforming lives and strengthening Manitoba through applied education and research for more than 60 years. Salary & Benefits Administrators play a vital function for the College – ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining accurate employee records and audit trails. The administrators prepare, balance, verify and record all payroll transactions and are also responsible for the administration of our benefit plan. They ensure payroll is performed in accordance with applicable legislation, the collective agreement, benefit plan provisions, and college policies and procedures.

Responsibilities :

Payroll and Benefit Administration

  • Process payroll for various employment types, ensuring accuracy in transactions.
  • Set up new employees in the payroll system, verifying information from human resources.
  • Calculate and process retroactive salary adjustments and pay-related changes.
  • Conduct bi-weekly audits and oversee calendar and fiscal year-end processing.
  • Administer employee benefits, accurately calculating deductions and premiums.
  • Respond to pay and benefit queries from employees and external agencies.
  • Liaise with relevant external entities, including our benefit and pension plan providers.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Relevant education and experience in payroll administration.
  • Proficiency in computerized payroll processing using an HR Information Management System
  • Ability to manage complex payroll responsibilities with precision and timeliness.
  • Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation / regulations related to payroll.
  • Experience applying HR / payroll policies, procedures, and collective agreement language.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
