Available for an immediate hire, Robert Half is searching for a skilled, eager, and strong candidate to fill the role of an Assistant Controller for an expanding, influential company.

As an Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for leading daily operations such as preparing and / or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, assisting with government reporting as applicable, and related duties.

The ideal candidate should be able to establish and scale company accounting and finance operations. This is a terrific opportunity to work for a company that recognizes hard work and rewards results as the Assistant Controller.

This Accounting Manager role is a permanent employment opportunity, based in the Bruce County, Ontario area.

How you will make an impact

• Review and analyze balance sheets and income statement accounts owned by the Senior Accountant
• Lead and supervise the accounting team performance during the closing process to ensure close deadlines are met
• Command sufficient knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
• Work alongside FP& A and accounting management to deliver relevant and timely reporting of financial data analytics like the monthly flash report, key financial metrics, and actual spend against budgets / outlook
• Prepare various technical accounting analyses, policies, and procedures
• Contribute to the preparation of GAAP financial statements, which includes document preparation, data analysis, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes

Job Requirements :

• Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Customer service oriented communication skills
• Solid technology and analytical abilities
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and / or experience
• 5+ years of recent relevant financial experience
• Month end closings experience desired
• Experience with Process Improvement Initiatives
• International financial reporting standards experience preferred
• Proficiency in inventory
• Process Improvement Initiatives experience
• Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable
