In this role, you will mainly maintain and provide technical, confidential interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and act as a resource for the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Manages all payroll functions in accordance with set policies and procedures.
  • Confidentially manages all issues related to labor relations around scheduling difficulties and pay and assists the Executive Director in administering collective agreements.
  • Manages and has knowledge of relevant acts, regulations, policies, and agreements relating to payroll administration e.

g., Award / EBA interpretation, compliance issues, segregation of duties, current trends and developments in payroll.

  • Analyzes and evaluates work methods, and design, and implement 'best practice' payroll systems and procedures.
  • Prepares, interprets and maintains records that is applied by the various collective agreement
  • Inputs roster and sign-in sheet information into the payroll system, orients new staff, and maintains timekeeping and attendance records
  • Liaises with Managers of Care to ensure the accuracy of information.
  • Manages and maintains a filing system for all payroll records.
  • Manages and maintains all benefits and Pacific Blue Cross billing information, as well as union information and payments.
  • Manages and maintains Long Term Disability information and payments.
  • Prepares payroll and does remittances for Revenue Canada as well as annual T4 slips.
  • Prepares and maintains all Service Canada forms and information.
  • Ensures payroll and accounting records are filed in conformance with company guidelines and filing system, and are retained in accordance with the requirements of the Operating agreements, Revenue Canada regulations, and Society policies.
  • Confidentially manages the integrity of all financial and payroll dealings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications :

  • Minimum Grade 12 education.
  • Post-secondary training in accounting (CPA / CA) and / or payroll is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in technical, interpretation of collective bargaining agreements and advice regarding the company's current payroll systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll experience.
  • Proficiency in computerized payroll computer systems, including payroll software and time and attendance systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently with minimum supervision.
  • High level of communication skills including preparation of clear concise instructions, manuals and reports.
  • Outstanding presentation skills.
  • Ability to train others in specialized payroll practices and procedures.
  • Must possess the personal qualities and attitudes that maintain and respect the spirit, dignity, and individuality of the staff and tenants.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations with tenants, residents, clients, and staff.
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
