Pay Range
Scarborough School-Based Program
Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week,
Contracted Employee Position for the duration of the school year
As an Occupational Therapist at VHA, you will be assessing and providing consultation, recommendations and interventions to a diverse group of pediatric clients in their schools using evidence-based best practice.
You will ensure coordinated delivery of care through ongoing communication with the client care team regarding plans and schedules for interventions, problem solve in collaboration with the client and care team to create opportunities for more independence and promote VHA’s core beliefs and values.
Key Areas of Accountability
VHA's Occupational Therapist have the following key areas of accountability, but not limited to :
- Become part of a new innovative model of client care contributing to the school-based Rehabilitation Program.
- Consultative model of service delivery providing education to the school team and parents / guardians.
- Working with the student 1 : 1 or in the classroom to trial / practice strategies.
- Modelling skills / strategies and advocating on behalf of the student’s needs.
- Focus of intervention includes (but not limited to) : Fine motor skills, gross motor skills, printing, typing, motor planning, visual perception, ADLs, sensory processing, self-regulation, executive functioning.
- A key team member to ensure clients have access to OT services in a timely manner.
- Administrative and scheduling support so you can focus on direct client care.
Required Qualifications :
- Member in good standing of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Valid Driver’s License with access to a vehicle
- Minimum 2 years pediatric clinical experience (optimal)
