RURAL RECRUITMENT INCENTIVES
Recruitment Incentive Fund
$20,000 one-time payment, prorated for physicians working less than full-time
Fee Premium (%)
25.62% paid on top of MSP billings or service contracts
Flat Fee
$38,880.18 annual flat fee payment paid to any physician that resides and practices in an eligible RSA community for a minimum 9 months per year and bills equal to or greater than $75,000 in the previous calendar year.
Relocation Funding
- $9,000 (based on where you are relocating from within BC)
- $12,000 (based on where you are relocating from moving within Canada outside BC)
- $15,000 (based on where you are relocating from moving from outside of Canada)
Rural Continuing Medical Education (RCME)
Individual funds - $1,320 in first 2 years, $3,520 in 3rd / 4th year, $5,720 over 4 years
Rural CMPA Benefit (R-CMPA)
- R-CMPA (Canadian Medical Protective Association) provides eligible rural BC physicians with up to a 50% refund of CMPA fees , requiring 9 months of residency and practice in an RSA community and at least $75,000 in billing.
- Rural incentives are subject to change and current rates are confirmed at time of offer.
Qualifications
Education, Licensing, & Experience
- Licensing : Full or provisional license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC)
- Mandatory Requirements : Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)Emergency medicine experience
- Professional Affiliation : Certification or eligibility for certification by the Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) is desired.
- Desired Qualifications : Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Additional Information : The CARE course can be considered as an alternative for expired ATLS, ACLS, and PALS or NRP certifications
