About the role
Our growing team is looking for a Senior Data Governance Advisor !
What you’ll do (key responsibilities) :
Contributes to the data governance framework and its implementation :
Defines and communicates data governance policies, standards, processes and guidelines in accordance related to subjects associated with data quality, data retention, data classification, compliance, accessibility and accountabilities.
Coordinates and oversees communications, training and awareness material on data governance for all stakeholders
Ensures the proper functioning and efficiency of data governance mechanisms and processes :
Participates in the design, implementation and measures of data governance mechanisms, such as the business glossary, metadata management, data catalog, the data request process or the data classification tool.
Generates novel solutions and creative ideas to solve problems.
With little or no direction, analyzes and challenges processes and methodologies and, where appropriate, develops methods to improve them and increase quality.
Ensures that their analysis is complete, meets the requirements and considers the impacts on the processes, stakeholders and systems involved.
Proactively identifies issues and risks, demonstrate problem-solving skills and proposes different solutions for remediation that meets the needs.
Provides change management support to the stakeholders : user guide, communication, planning, training, etc.
Liaises between the business and various stakeholders such as IT or Legal.
Considers stakeholder interests and demonstrate an expert level of domain knowledge.
Can adapt the practices to the context of the assignment.
Acts as a subject matter expert on subjects associated with data governance :
Support and advise projects or business stakeholders on data governance subjects, including data governance principles.
Shares technical expertise on processes, technologies and evolving standards and best practices (SME).
Monitors and watches for new developments in the field.
Mentors and coaches teammates.
Onboard and support data governance owners, leaders and stewards into their role.
Participates in the strategy and roadmap definition and implementation, supported by best practices and market benchmarking :
Helps the team estimate and plan the efforts required to complete large and complex projects.
Works closely with the Product Owner and team members to write user stories and define acceptance criteria.
Assists in producing estimates to meet time / cost / quality objectives, with the project manager, for project level estimates, including the efforts of other teams.
Can find criteria for estimation, even with limited information.
May be required to contribute to project management.
Uses communication and adaptation skills to deliver excellence :
Masters communication techniques and knows how to use them according to the context (validation, reformulation, feedback, visualization) in both face-to-face and virtual meetings.
Clearly and concisely summarises findings and work in progress.
Adapts the level of language (verbal and written) and the content of the message to the type of stakeholder.
Facilitates meetings and makes presentations effectively, even in difficult situations.
Demonstrates ability to work with people from different backgrounds, locally and remotely.
Can influence and persuade.
Uses strategies to overcome deadlocks and can work in a context of uncertainty.
Can provide arguments to seek user acceptance and propose enhancements for continuous improvement.
Can change assignment topics easily.
Can handle issues that are not related to past experience.
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
