Geotechnical Team Lead

MatchBox Consulting Group is seeking a Geotechnical Team Lead for our client an innovative, reputable geotechnical engineering consultancy based in Vancouver.

Over the past 15+ years, our client has completed over thousands of projects across BC, Alberta, and the Yukon ranging from the foundation design of a small laneway house to the excavation, shoring and foundation of large institutional, commercial, and infrastructure projects.

This individual will conduct comprehensive site visits, leveraging their deep knowledge of geotechnical engineering to make informed decisions and recommendations.

Additionally, they will supervise field investigations, manage project coordination, ensure accurate interpretation of geotechnical data, act as a client liaison, and continuously enhance team capabilities by identifying and implementing improvement strategies aligned with industry advancements.

Responsibilities :

• Conduct site visits and make decisions / recommendations based on a strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering
• Coordination and performance of the field investigations
• Supervise, guide, and support the geotechnical team, ensuring efficient workflow, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive work environment
• Oversee geotechnical project planning, resource allocation, and scheduling to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results
• Review and interpret geotechnical data, reports, and analyses, providing expertise and guidance to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards
• Act as a point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, presenting findings, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout projects
• Identify areas for improvement in processes, methodologies, and team skills, implementing strategies for enhancement and staying updated with industry advancements

Requirements :

• A Bachelor's degree in engineering (required)
• Candidate must be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC
• Carry a Class 5 Driver's License and own a vehicle
• Ability to work with design teams to incorporate geotechnical aspects into site designs
• Earthwork and foundation construction supervision and reporting
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work and contribute individually or as part of a team, being a self-starter
• Ability to multitask, organize time, and meet deadlines

Nice to Have :

• Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering is considered a plus.
• Experience with CAD, LPile, and Slope Stability software is considered an asset
• Erosion and sedimentation control and Stormwater management experience
